First rate

I loved David Collings' narration of this tale from "Ghost Stories of an Antiquary." He has just the right tone, expression, and maturity in his voice to be perfectly suited to James' subjects and style. One might imagine James himself reading his stories aloud to the schoolboys sounding rather similar.

"The Treasure of Abbot Thomas" is among the creepiest and most intriguing of James' many supernatural stories. The favorite theme of the brilliant but naive scholar who inquires too deeply into his research for his own good is very much in evidence. The chilling conclusion is likely to stay with one long after the story is over.

It is aggravating that the Collings' narrations are only available in a piecemeal manner, one story at a time. It would be wonderful to have them all in a collection.
