Publisher's summary

Overrun by hard-bitten miners, gamblers, and the kind of no-account drifters that follow the gold camps, Basin City is a place where no respectable citizen feels safe. That's why three of the town's foremost businessmen have gone and hired a new marshal. Tomorrow he'll be in charge of protecting a stagecoach carrying over a quarter million dollars in gold as it moves out of the Basin City depot. Tonight he'll be defending his life.

For Perry, a gunfighter on the run, this job should have turned his life around. Instead, it's landed him in a peck of trouble. And now, unless Perry uncovers the motives of a mysterious saloon owner and gets wise to a double-crossing, he's headed for a lynching - he own.

I really enjoyed this book. I got lost in it and the performance by the actors made me feel as though I was there.

Great Dramatization - Complete Short Story!

It's amazing how even Louis L'Amour can write such a suspense filled, compete story in an hour presentation.

The Town No Man Can Tame needs a town sheriff, so Perry is hired to safeguard a gold shipment and clean up the town. As town sheriff Perry has a killing of a young man to solve, and town bullies to contend with. The town doesn't trust him nor does a pretty young lady Perry would like to know better.

The story has everything a longer story could have only in a condensed form. I was in the mood for a short story and this was a good choice.

It had an interesting cast of characters and good dramatization.

Love dramatized L'Amour

I love all of these dramatized L'Amour short stories. Only about an hour long and great entertainment. I owned all of them on Cassettes which have saddly gone to crap over the years. I am so glad they are now available on Audible.
