I received a copy of this audiobook for free, and I leave my review voluntarily.

Justin Hyde was born in Los Angeles, California, in 1981 and grew up in Simi Valley. On top of being a writer, he is also a mechanical engineer and the father of three beautiful girls.

“Not reality; this had to be a bad dream.”

Jason is a regular guy. He owns a business, and he spends time with his family. He doesn’t get in trouble; in most situations, he’s so typical that it’s almost dull. Until one day, he stumbles upon a dead body. A dead body that has a note with his name on it in her pocket. Suddenly, Jason’s ordinary life is anything but- and now he is in the fight, and he has no idea why.

The Talion Law, more commonly referred to as "An eye for an eye," is a commandment found in the Book of Exodus 21:23–27 expressing the principle of reciprocal justice measure for measure. In Roman civilization, the law of retaliation bears the same principle that a person who has injured another person is to be penalized to a similar degree by the injured party.

This was quite the ride from start to finish. With several twists you won’t see coming, the plot moves along fairly quickly.

The characters were decently developed. Our main character, Jason, is a pretty typical man. He’s a terrible dog owner, though.

I found certain portions unnecessarily wordy and overly descriptive. But for the most part, the writing was good. The plot twist was well done and helped bring the plot together.

I enjoyed the chaos and how things seemed random until they didn’t. Things moved quickly for the most part, though some areas seemed somewhat stagnant.

The narrator, Brian Matthew Carr, did a great job bringing the story and characters to life. There were quite a few characters, and Carr did well giving each their individuality.

Thank you, Brian, for reaching out for a review and providing the audiobook.
