Storyline of Carrie traveling to Santa Fe and meeting Eli. The harseness of 1800’s.

Loved the story as it continues to touch on characters from Into the Wilderness. A favorite series.

At first I didn’t care for the detail the author went into, but she wove the characters and the story together beautifully. I could not stop listening!

wonderfully detailed love story in early America with rich descriptions of scenery and people and medical/social history.
Continued story from previous works was delightful.

Good story

I love her Wilderness series. This book felt ... different. It felt a bit less exciting, with a little less character development and left me feeling like there were some loose ends.

Did not disappoint

I really like the way Ms Donati writes. It’s easy to read and follow but she does not insult the listener or reader by making it too simple. . The story did not disappoint.

I love the depth of the characters and the historical aspect of all of her books! The relationships and personalities of all the characters keep me coming back for more.

This was a wonderful book! It hooked me just as hard as any book in the wilderness series. A beautiful look into the past with interesting characters and so many fascinating details. I can't wait to see what's next!

I loved the whole book. It was beautifully written as always. I especially loved getting reacquainted with the Hidden Wolf clan.

I enjoyed this novel as it was written about a midwife, and her travels through the Santa Fe Trail, In the early to mid 1800s. I learned a lot more about the indigenous people in the horrible treatment that they endure from the US army.
