Surprisingly Good!!!!

I really enjoyed this first book in the Case Lee series.
Considering this is also a debut novel I think the author did a fantastic job. This book is told in first person.
The protagonist (Case Lee) is former Delta. Living on a boat and off the grid. There's a bounty on him and his DELTA team members. He currently takes freelance jobs, primarily informational. He is introspective, has his own set of principles that include not taking jobs that require killing, however for self preservation or the lives of his former team members he will. Comradeship is of utmost importance.
There's a surprising scene involving a really great character (Bo) towards the end. Actually almost all the team members are pretty interesting. Each ONE occupying a different corner of the states.
This author fleshed out his characters and wrote a believable story.
Tim Dixon does an excellent job narrating.
This book is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

You will be transported! Great suspense!

I loved this story and the narrator was genius! So worth it! The descriptions in this thrilling story had me visually seeing the entire story laid out in front of me - the author did a brilliant job bringing me right into the story. Seriously, you will be transported right into the far away places described in this book. The characters were real and beautifully developed. This was a suspenseful story that will keep you on the edge of your seat, for sure, but it also goes beyond that with gritty and charming characters that will become very real to you. This author is definitely one of my new favorites and I will be getting all of his books.

Pretty good but a bit wide-flung

I'm interested enough to read the next one in the series, but the jobs were kind of thrown out there. The best part is the relationship between the brothers in arms. That is one thing I love in some of these action stories. Chase has some good friends I hope to see again in future books. Most of the characters are very-well fleshed out; Angel being the least fully-drawn or believable. The reason for the problem (and plot of the book) turns out to be fairly lame, and yes, the fishing and quail hunting did drag on a bit too long.

Not bad, but...

Good storyline and characters but the author takes too many side trips that don’t add to the overall plot.

Not What I Expected

I honestly choose this book to fill time until one of my favorite authors had a new book out. I like the military, special- ops books, so thought "why not," with low expectations. I was pleasantly surprised to find myself fully engaged in birth the plot and the characters. Unlike many espionage novels, the characters in this story have depth and question their choices. I look forward to the next book in the series.

A Little Boring

There were some good parts to this book, but the author spent to much time on mundane things. He spend 2 hours of the book on a fly fishing and bird hunting adventure that had nothing to do with the story. The parts that got into the story was good, but it could have been about a 5 hour book rather than the length it was.

It was good. Worth a listen.

Story was a little thin, but enjoyable. Maybe he'll get better nectar one. Reading was ok, but a little hokey with female voices, and especially the little girl. Author employed a"deus ex machina", one of my pet peeves.

Great Book !!!

Great book, I immediately downloaded book 2 of the series. I'm a big Vince Flynn, Brad Thor, and Ben Coe fan and Vince Milam is in this territory with great detail. I'm waiting on the next one!
