Reader needs to stop and take a breath...

... and pause for scene transitions. Hampered an otherwise great story. Bloody good haunted house tale.

Kept me listening late into the nights!

Thoroughly enjoyable ghost story with an ending I didn't see coming. Will definitely be getting the next one.

A Ghost Hunt Movie Sparked by Words

Stephen R. Thorne did a great job with the wide range of characters that make up the story. If you are in the mood for an engaging fireside tale with a taunting evil, a mystery and a diverse cast, you should snag this book because it has all of that and more. The characters truly drive the story and they will be the main reason you will want to stick around until the very end. The author mixed some very original individuals with a batch of contemporary buttheads. Overall, this story had the right mix of spook, action, supernatural slants and edgy horror that was very entertaining.

Many Characters wow

I enjoyed the premise of this for the most part. the 3mding was a little unclear. bad things happened they got the proof they wanted but they all got fired. not sure what that's about. 🤔 the story was pretty good, I didn't expect the twist. there were alot of people to keep track of so that was annoying. otherwise pretty good book. the narrator wasn't right for this story. he didn't make it sound creepy at all. a good narrator can really sell a story. sorry for grammar errors. I am typing really quick in my phone.

Long - but good

First off - this is a very long book. Like, you put it on and road-trip. Or do some other project that takes a couple of days. I am not really sure WHY this book is so long, it definitely could have been cut down.
But if you have the time to commit, it's a good listen. I liked the reality show aspect, although there were so many different characters I sometimes forgot who was what. HOWEVER - that doesn't really matter. As long as you know the main guys, you're good.
Overall I enjoyed it, and I would recommend to somebody else looking for a good old-fashioned ghost story/haunted house book.

Awesome!

Loved the book! One of the best suspenseful books I’ve read in a long time. Was on the edge of my seat the last half of the book and couldn’t stop listening! Highly recommend for story and narration.

A great Howl-ween listen

Throne’s narration is nothing less the spectacular. Even the variance in voice for the Native American accent adds something special. He has moved to the top of my list of favorites.

The story interesting enough to keep you actively listening.

Narrator wasn’t very good

The story was ok… I think it might’ve been better if the narrator was able to do different voices better. It was hard to tell when it was a woman speaking or a male—which got confusing. Towards the end, I just started skipping through chapters to get to the good part

Great read for ghost hunter and haunting fans!

When I was five, I crept out of bed and secretly watched a scene from a scary movie that my parents were watching. The scene was that of a door, in what I assumed was a haunted house, bowing in and out as if taking breaths. The scene terrified me such that it haunted my dreams throughout my childhood.

Decades later I happened across the same exact scene in an old movie. I am, of course, speaking of the 1963 movie "The Haunting" based on "The Haunting of Hill House" by Shirley Jackson.

“The Haunting of Hill House” has been the inspiration for many horror authors and screenwriters but in a twist from the average inspired story or movie remake, the premise of "The Supernaturals" is that the house in this story was the inspiration for Shirley Jackson's novel. When the story opened with a scene describing a breathing door, I was hooked.

"The Supernaturals" is a spin of the classic tale updated with an eclectic crew of talented "sensitives", scientists, the latest ghost hunting gadgets, and a back biting television network trying to produce a live Halloween ghost investigation show.

The authors spends a good bit of time setting up character backgrounds and motivations but never to the point of losing interest. It was a gripping tale with escalating risks and scares to the end. The characters, including a good number of skeptics, were interesting and played well with or against each other.

The reader read well. All character voices were distinct and realistic. It was a great performance and a great read for anyone who is a fan of hauntings, ghost hunting or things that go bump in the night.

Nail-biting, Emotional, Thrilling!

What other book might you compare The Supernaturals to and why?

I think that most books in the Stephen King collection would fall into this category of supernatural and suspenseful however, beware, his books are quite a bit more gory. Lillith Saintcrow's Hunter series also delivers a healthy dose of fantasy and other-worldlliness with her character, Jill Kismet, that are very gritty and character driven. Shirley Damsgaard does a fantastic job of authoring very "hard-to-put-down" novels featuring Ophelia Jensen, a supernatural private investigator. Her novels also prove to be a lighter read with a quirky main character and a similarly funny cast of suspects.

Have you listened to any of Stephen R. Thorne’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This is my first book with him as a narrator but I look forward to listing to him in the future.

This is my first time reading a book by David L. Golemon. I will be gleefully searching for another of his books as soon as I am finished writing this review!
