FDR pumped up the price of silver to help jump start the US economy during the Great Depression, but this move weakened China, which was then on the silver standard, and facilitated Japan's rise to power before World War II. Bunker Hunt went on a silver-buying spree during the 1970s to protect himself against inflation and triggered a financial crisis that left him bankrupt.

Silver has been the preferred shelter against government defaults, political instability, and inflation for most people in the world because it is cheaper than gold. The white metal has been the place to hide when conventional investments sour, but it has also seduced sophisticated investors throughout the ages like a siren. This book explains how powerful figures, up to and including Warren Buffett, have come under silver's thrall, and how its history guides economic and political decisions in the 21st century.

A Detailed Account of Silver's Monetary History

This book is jampacked full of details surrounding the history of silver, primarily in the United States. The book starts with a sort of 'table odd contents' that gives just enough detail to wet the appetite. The story that unfolds shows just how important silver was, has been and likely always will be. If you're interested in precious metals, especially if gold seems a bit out of range, I could not suggest this book more! As a bonus, the vocal performance was perfect, so you won't be distracted by poor audio quality!! Would recommend, 100%.

Narrator does a great job telling the story as well. Highly recommend this to get a perspective on monetary metals.

Entertaining but anticlimactic

I love the details in the book, especially how illustrating with specific examples of ridiculous the US government however, the story need more pop. Overall i think its worth a read, but wont wow you.
