About this listen

The young, beautiful, and relentless Lara Cameron has amassed international wealth and power, with equal success in affairs of the heart. But an angry ex-lover has vengeance in mind - a motive that could cost Lara the empire she struggled a lifetime to build. Setting the stage in Scotland and Nova Scotia, maestro of mystery Sydney Sheldon lures his readers down a chain of intrigue through Chicago, New York, London, Rome, and Reno. Hollywood's Roddy McDowall narrates the shocks and turns of Lara's climb from a past she tries to suppress.

Great Sidney Sheldon story as usual. However the muffled audio somewhat took away from the experience

muffled audio

At times Scottish, others Irish, this author reads with energy but his Italian American is simply poor, a whisper that barely reaches the earphone. Not the best Sidney but still with some merit

very muffled sound and quite random accents.

I read the book many many years ago but listening was such an incredible delight.

Loved the storyline and book overall, but Roddy McDowell’s voice made Lara seem like an old lady, I couldn’t imagine her being as young as her character really was. I envisioned her as a nun-like hunchback woman from the beginning, hard making it to the end, I had to speed up the audio. I think there should’ve been a female and male narrator.

Bad narrator

Rody McDowell is not a very good book reader and the recording is lower quality than is now routine. The book is pretty good Sheldon.

Redo needed

Decent story, keeps the interest. It felt to me like the story was not real believable.

Good Book
