About this listen

The outstanding new Fargo adventure from the number-one New York Times best-selling author.

There are many rumors about the bay off Guadalcanal in the Solomon Islands. Some say it was the site of the lost empire of the Solomon king and that great treasure lies beneath the waters. Others say terrible things happened here, atrocities and disappearances at the hands of cannibal giants, and those who venture there do not return. It is cursed.

Which is exactly what attracts the attention of husband-and-wife treasure-hunting team Sam and Remi Fargo. How could they resist? Clues and whispers lead them on a hunt from the Solomons to Australia to Japan, and what they find at the end of the trail is both wonderful and monstrous - and like nothing they have ever seen before.

Critic reviews

"Cussler and Blake have given us another riveting thriller. Sam and Remi are fearless, honest, curious, and resourceful in all situations. Fasten your seat belt for this wonderful read!" ( Library Journal)
"Scenes, settings, and action are graphic-novel worthy, from sweat-stained jungle treks to bad-guy confrontations, all laced with historical factoids and a soupçon of fantasy for across-the-board appeal. Cussler and Company continue the winning formula, and this jungle episode, featuring exotic locales and an interesting back story, will satisfy the cravings of every fan." ( Kirkus Reviews)
"Sam and Remi Fargo wield automatic weapons as well as they do metal detectors. This adventure series stands as one of the crown jewels in the Cussler empire." ( Publishers Weekly)

Lot of twists and turns. Action galore!

Very good story. What a great end. You could make a whole story of just the find at the end! Do it Clive!

entertaining

Any additional comments?

The book is entertaining. Unfortunately the storyline is fueled by numerous stupid and illogical actions (the Fargos never miss a chance to barge into danger; villains would rather talk than just kill them; flashlight batteries continue to give out). I don't know why Brick attributes a Carribean Island accent to Solomon islanders.

Sometimes a bit too much.

I enjoy Clive Cullser's books a lot and I've read most of them. But we all know how it's going to come out. And just sometimes it's a bit too much. Thinking that maybe they'll find a cure to cancer and world hunger along the line with all their other great finds. I won't stop reading them as I admire the man and his accomplishments. Please make them more complicated.

How naive are the Fargo's?

While all Cussler books are enjoyable entertainment, the work smidgen's of historical intrigue. You have to wonder how many times Sam & Remi Fargo are going to stupidly step into trouble again. Or, just how naive they really are, when they continue to make stupid next moves.

Regardless, the stories are fun, and provide great breaks from reality, especially during covid.

Scott Brick once again delivers a gem

Another Winning Cussler Tale

Well told and captivating. Addictive, a socio-economic overview of a typical 3rd world, addressing legends, replete with heros, villains, and related struggles.

Good but not great

No real surprises in the story, usually there are some good twists and turns. That’s one left me a little dry.
