Acerca de esta escucha

For George Finch, one of "Nature's white mice" and probably the worst artist ever to put brush to canvas, there are many obstacles to overcome. Undoubtedly the greatest is his beloved Molly's fearsome stepmother, Mrs. Waddington, who has her eye on an eligible English lord for a son-in-law. Luckily, George has an ally in sharp-witted Hamilton Beamish, an old family friend of the Waddingtons. Then there is George's butler Mullett and his light-fingered girlfriend, Fanny, whose valuable skills are of particular interest to the would-be father-in-law...

While not one of Wodehouse's best, this in a fun tale with loads of broken hearts that must be mended, thieves, and stolen necklaces. The narration was good, with Cecil performing quite a few voices with perfection.

Enjoyable, but not a classic

Although there are many familiar elements to this story, the point of it all is to enjoy the journey that P.G. Wodehouse takes one on. You wonder how the many characters will come together but they do and it’s all in good fun. The narrator was excellent.

True to Brand

Wodehouse is simply the best. This isn't my favorite Wodehouse ever but it's dang good, like everything else he wrote. And you cannot beat Jonathan Cecil, the man is a master, I don't think anyone does Wodehouse better.

Classic Wodehouse

Most of the Wodehouse canon is set in Britain--Jeeves, Wooster, various manor houses. But this is a refreshing romp set in Greenwhich Village, Upper Manhattan, beach houses in Long Island. Great characters, dialog, and a rag-tag plot that somehow seems perfect, as well. Jonathan Cecil's narration is spot-on.

Wodehouse In America With New Characters

Light-hearted fun. The narration is delightful and as a New Yorker, I loved all the references to places in the city. The Pyramus and Thisbe scene is my favorite.

A gem! One of my favorite Wodehouses

The golden master sets beautiful machinery in to motion once again! Jonathan Cecil, once again, endeavors to deliver uniform satisfaction.

Amazing!

I always enjoy the combination of Wodehouse and Cecil. This story is fairly standard Wodehouse, but that is just what I want!

Hurrah for Wodehouse and Cecil

Many interesting complications, characters as charming as Bertie Wooster and Bobbie Wickham, and Jonathan Cecil is always a favorite narrator. This is a fantastic introduction to P. G. Wodehouse; if you are familiar with his work, you will be delighted. Enjoy!

As Good as Wodehouse Gets!

Fun plot twists, plenty of clever and laugh out loud funny descriptions and phrases, and a performance by one of the best.

Classic Wodehouse

I listen to this story over and over again and find new laughs each time. Jonathan Cecil and P.G. Wodehouse are a splendid match!

A Terrific Escape!
