About this listen

Upon returning to Valia after his journey to Caelford and the Unclaimed Lands, Corin Cadence is confronted with a familiar foe—his own father.

While his strength has vastly increased since his last encounter with Magnus Cadence, Corin knows that he’ll need every trick at his disposal—and maybe a few new ones—if he wants to survive a duel with his father intact.

While Corin struggles with his family, his friends must face a second year at Lorian Heights with new classes, familiar but new chancellor, and deadly new enemies both on and off the campus. But school itself is the least of their worries. As the year progresses, the nation of Valia faces new travails at the emergence of a mysterious faction targeting attuned commoners and foreigners.

Casualties mount as Corin’s allies seek to unmask the leadership of this deadly order—and discover a threat that they cannot hope to face and emerge unscathed.

The Silence of Unworthy Gods is the fourth book in the Arcane Ascension series, a progression fantasy epic that mixes dungeon crawling and magical school content. This book also references events from the Weapons & Wielders series up to Book three, a connected series that takes place several years earlier with some overlapping cast members.

LitRPG means Literary Role Playing Game. Simply put, it’s the book version of watching someone play a video game, usually one that’s set up like an MMO (massively multiplayer online) RPG. It’s a blend of sci-fi and fantasy, depending on how it comes to be that our main character ends up living inside a virtual reality. the point of LitRPG is not how we get there, but that we get to be in this virtual reality period, living life as a badass video-game character. Beat the grind and submerse yourself in these addictive LitRPGs.

Powerful Ending • Intricate Magic System • Outstanding Narration • Nail-biting Danger • Emotional Depth • Diverse Cast

Another great entry in the series! I really enjoyed the delving even further into the magic system created it is always the best part of the series. The only downside is we keep getting new questions with little to no answers to old ones. Nick Podehl as always did a fantastic job!

Another great entry in the series

its so good it does kind of drag at parts and there is alot of deep delving into the magic system that can be dey but the ending left me wanting more

I loved it

The first chapter outlines the main protagonist and task for our hero, and apparently forgotten for most of the book, when our protagonists returns he's easily defeated with no closure. And then a backstory becomes the main story with a new protagonist and crams this story in the last few chapters. Giving the book a very unsatisfactory ending

A Red Herring Story

I love this series the characters have realistic personalities and none of them are over powered. Of course there’s plot armor but that’s needed when going against fights they shouldn’t win and it’s normally strategies that win those fights not just a last min power up

Awesome series

The story is less compelling than the previous books in the series for a few reasons. The class warfare seems forced…the upper class's lost "advantage" amounted to one trivial exercise anyone could have thought of. More time was spent lecturing about social injustice than depicting it. After building up to a duel the main character accepts for no other discernable reason than honor, the book ends it in the least honorable way possible. And I have to admit I'm getting tired of bad guys winning because of unimaginable speed despite the heroes having a bazillion ways to speed themselves up. Finally, I struggle to see how the plot or the main villain's quest and motivations have any relevance to the series as a whole.

It was still a fun book, of course. I just hope the next one has a a main plot that seems meaningful, instead of this jumble of side quests.

Enjoyed it despite the flaws

This book and this series as a whole are just too good for my words to be able to portray. The very idea that I have to wait until the next book comes out is already starting to ache. Start at the beginning and get listening, it’s worth it a hundred times over.

Please don’t make me wait

Holy hell, what was that book?!?!? My brain is fried after another amazing tale from Andrew Rowe. I was simply enjoying the magical education and world building, when all of a sudden the world itself decided to tear itself apart. Familial battles decided by true strategy. And permanent damages decided by the need for salvation. True feelings of love for something can only be experienced with some form of loss, and this story exploits that wonderfully.

Mental Damage Warning - Mind Blown
