Great use of the English language!

Great story. What struck me most was his rich use of the English language. Such writers are almost nonexistent today.

An excellent story of Mike's last exploits

Mike tells an excellent story of heroism, loyalty, failure, and faith in southern Africa.

Compelling listen

Terrific narration by the author and participant in the affair. Nobody tells a story like someone actually embroiled in it and listening to Mike Hoare discuss the planning, execution, failure and aftermath was fascinating, he is a master storyteller. Even though I found parts of the story somewhat unbelievable (blithely overlooking multiple indicators that the plan was compromised and lacked proper backing) I found his version of events compelling.

excellent

enjoy this story on hardship and overcoming a terrible occurrence and what little government cares of those who serve it.

Story of a Gentleman

What makes this story is that is was narrated by Mike Hoare himself. Hoare died recently in Durban at age 100.

Fantastic insight on the Seychelles Affair

All of Col. Mike Hoare's books I've personally heard so far are incredibly written, eloquent and very interesting, they are truly a treasure.

Great Book

Fantastic story that reads more like fiction. My only criticism is there should have been more text on the actual coup itself more than the aftermath in prison. I was initially worried that Mike Hoare was reading the book however I needn’t have. He absolutely crushed it and if he wasn’t a former Mercenary he would have been a fine Audible narrator !!! I will definitely look for more books from Colonel Mike Hoare !!!!
