About this listen

"Hello, Praea."

There's only one being on Earth who calls Sloan Jordan by that name - her biological mother, a demon named Kasyade. So why did she answer Sloan’s best friend’s phone? When Sloan reaches Adrianne Marx’s apartment to investigate, all she finds is a half-written list of things to do before Sloan’s wedding:

  1. Order booze for the reception.
  2. Send the final guest count to the caterer.
  3. Register for gifts.
  4. Don’t forget to -

That's where the to-do list ended. Mid-sentence with a scrawled line like Adrianne had been dragged away from the task. If Kasyade was involved in the abduction, Adrianne probably had been.

The reason? Ransom.

The price? Sloan’s unborn daughter, the most powerful angel in all of history.

But hell can’t rival the fury of an angry mother protecting her child, and until the baby is born, her incredible power is Sloan’s to wield. Now the prey becomes the predator as Sloan seeks to put an end to Kasyade forever.

Addicting

There are some books that are simply transformative and make you feel as if you’ve become a part of the narrative. You develop attachments, feelings, and thoughts about the characters. When you finish, despite having no more ogre to read, your mind continues to invest energy into the story. Your emotions are tied to the plot.

That is what Elicia Hyder accomplishes in The Soul Summoner series! Each book takes you deeper into the abyss of Asheville, NC, the spirit world, and every inch of Sloan Jordan’s captivating mind.

She leaves you wanting more.

bitter sweet

I loved this entire series. But keep a box of tissues handy. It tied up all the loose ends.

Love this!!

Brittany Pressley does a wonderful job telling the story! Once again I say that Elicia Hyder is a master with words. I loved this book as much as all the previous in the series. The fight between good and evil, the battle is mind blowing. I am going to dive into the next book as soon as possible. I don't want the series to end. I love all the characters and can't imagine the exciting rest of the story to come!! Sloan, Nathan and Warren are so great and all the supporting characters just really give so much to the stories. I laughed, cried and repeat once again. Emotional rollercoaster sometimes at least for me. It's action packed in places and just has a little bit of everything. If you haven't read or listened to any of these yet, you really need to!!!

Great narrator throughout the series. Left me wanting one more in the series

Some repeats of information that seemed unnecessary. But maybe I just didn’t need it because I listened to the books right after each other

Ending less than satisfactory

Come on. I ready sci-fi/fantasy for adventure and HEA. The ending felt rushed and loss of to many main characters. Sorry but not well planned for all the suffering endured. There should have been redemption after all the sacrifices. Disappointed.

Everything comes together....but....

I have to say I was on edge waiting for this book to finally be narrated by Britney Presley because it came out a while ago.
But it was worth the wait. She does a brilliant job, You has me sobbing Brit.
The good first: everything comes together, you get answers BUT not to two things that probably all readers were hoping. (Not spoiling that) but you will be let down a little on the information scale. Audio books have a way of fully engulfing their readers with all the details that could be missed or skimmed over with physical reading. (Or I could just be weird cuz I have Echoic Memory)
I am a supernatural mystery nut! I have read SO many series and listened to so many that It’s getting difficult for me to find ones. I love twists and the bad guys and all that. That being said....
There is a LOT of filler with this book to fully bring forth the title ( which is also the main concept of the book), “sacrifice”. I would say 3/4 of it is encompasses the way Sloan is loved by those around her, and how she returns that love. If you’re looking for super fights and back and fourth, and twists...you won’t get it here. Sorry. This is a “bring it round to rest” type. It’s a closer. Yet, the author can still do quite the spin-offs with other characters, and start it back up easily.
This one is more like a Game of cat and mouse with the feel of Time Travelers wife/the Notebook.
You get your big bad fight, but not till the very end bringing forth great narration on action and suspense.
I’ll admit as well I sobbed like a baby for the last 15 minutes of the book. Good job Britney. Totally got a big case of the feels I would not have been able to visualize with just reading it.
And to the author, I’m pretty sure my husband hates you. I myself am married to a very amazing and aggressive and brutish military man that’s done tours and lives for the action/fight. It’s been his entire life. And he could never ever in a million years be as caring and loving as Warren. Or write that letter. My husband believes that alone makes this book Fiction. (Lol)
It’s good. But I’m just more about the action and mystery. That’s just me. the love story is amazing. The fight scenes, easy to visualize and suspenseful. The mysteries have great twists and the characters well developed. This one just isn’t enough “for ME” and be alone. But I got my answers and I still like the series. I’m needy. I get that.

Another Amazing Book!

I read this book when it first came out, but having Brittany Pressley bring the characters to life made me fall in love with the book all over again. The Sacrifice starts where The Taken book ended. It is zero to sixty throughout the book from start to finish. While there is a lot of intense moments, Elicia does a great job of adding moments of hilarity as well. This book will give you all the feels and emotions, and you will need a couple of days to recover.

Where Is Adrianne? Also, last of the best narrator

Adrianne is missing so the gang go on a hunt to find her, it is just as action packed and suspenseful as all the other books. The only sad part is this is the last one Ms. Presley narrates until she co narrates a book in the end. This is the last book with Sloan as our POV and then we go on to a new world with a new narrator. This is definitely the last book I should’ve read in this series before moving on. The next narrator is a HUGE letdown FYI!

Happy Listening!

Another great one!

I have listened to the series so far and keep wanting more. The characters are relatable and being a resident of NC very cool to hear about local places in the book.
