Publisher's summary

An audio edition of the famous Red Book text and essay.

The Red Book, published to wide acclaim in 2009, contains the nucleus of C. G. Jung's later works. It was here that he developed his principal theories of the archetypes, the collective unconscious, and the process of individuation that would transform psychotherapy from treatment of the sick into a means for the higher development of the personality.

As Sara Corbett wrote in the New York Times, The creation of one of modern history's true visionaries, The Red Book is a singular work, outside of categorization. As an inquiry into what it means to be human, it transcends the history of psychoanalysis and underscores Jung's place among revolutionary thinkers like Marx, Orwell and, of course, Freud.

The Red Book: A Reader's Edition features Sonu Shamdasani's introductory essay and the full translation of Jung's vital work in one audiobook. The Red Book is skillfully narrated by Mike Fraser. Produced and published by Echo Point Books & Media, an independent bookseller in Brattleboro, Vermont.

This book causes dreams

This book is difficult you have to simultaneously decode symbolism and difficult concepts from that symbolism. The symbolism adds depth to the book that makes it one of those books with infinite meaning.

Mysterious and Humbling

I say that because I could only grasp a handful of concepts. I would suggest listwning to some of Jordan Peterson if you want more clarification. He delves into the importance of archetype is psychoanalysis.

Tough Slogging, but Worth It

Having closely studied the Thoth tarot and other older occult systems and philosophies will help one make some inexplicable sense of all this...great narration

Jung’s psychology is rich and colorful, narrator was fantastic.

Great book! I’d give it 5 stars but the chapters are mislabeled, needs to be fixed.

Wonderful

This book was wonderful for me as I’m deeply interested in Jung’s work. Please note that the recording and chapter guide do not match once you get to the Scrutinies section. It seems they recorded some of it twice. The whole book is there it’s just off.

Amazing

There is so much wisdom and mystery packed into this book! I only wish that there had been a bit more attention paid to editing the recording. There is even a short section that was accidentally cut out. Needs to be fixed!

Captivating

I could stop listening.

The first part covers the lead up to the writing, and repeats what seems the same thing.

Once Libra Novas started you can’t put it down, it captures your being.

Great anthology of various works by Carl Jung

Loved it and the descriptions were very interesting. This is a good place to start getting to know Jung and his views.
