About this listen

What makes life perfect? Insurance mathematician Henri Koskinen knows the answer because he calculates everything down to the last decimal. And then, Henri is faced with the incalculable.

After suddenly losing his job, Henri inherits an adventure park from his brother - its troubling financial problems included. The worst of these issues appear to originate from big loans taken from criminal quarters...and dangerous men are keen to get their money back.

But what Henri really can't compute is love. He meets Laura, an artist with a joie de vivre and erratic lifestyle that bewilders him. As the criminals go to lengths to collect their debts, Henri finds himself in situations that cannot be pinned down on his spreadsheets....

Very funny

Thus is such a great story of gruesome murders, dirty money and an adventure park, all with a good doze of loughter. The reader is slightly overexcited.

Fantastic!

The opening volume of this crime series is truly an emphatic celebration of neurodiversity. The characters are carefully constructed and the plot is woven with wonderfully dark humour. I can’t wait for the streaming series to premiere.

Comedy in Crime Fiction

This comic novel from Finland is a lot of fun. The main character, Henri, is a logical man who makes decisions based on mathematical probabilities. His approach to life is challenged when he inherits a children's adventure park and a large debt to some dangerous criminals. For both the park and Henri to survive, he must deal with an assortment of eccentric employees and criminals in a series of unexpected situations.
The story is told in the first person and David Thorpe's narration expertly captures Henri's voice as he encounters situations that defy his sense of order. Thorpe also does a wonderful job of making the other characters funny and distinct.

Hope it becomes a movie

I dont read a lot of translated fiction, but i do love some wonderful irony and dark humor. This is great for the downtrodden.

I almost gave up in the first chapter and am so very glad I didn’t. I love this book and the story and the characters.
I want to read everything in this author’s catalogue.

Terrific story and narration!

I thoroughly enjoyed this audiobook! The story was filled with twists and turns, and the main character, Henri, was both quirky and charming. The narrator, David Thorpe, was excellent, with a perfect voice and style for Henri, as well as the other characters. I highly recommend it, and I look forward to listening to the next book in the series, The Moose Paradox, and anything else written by this talented author, Antti Tuomainen.

Zzzzzzzzz

I guess this is supposed to be funny. Not sure I have enough patience or tolerance to listen to the entire book.
