About this listen

Now airing as the three-part documentary series The Other Mrs Jordan on ITVX.

In 2006, Mary Turner Thomson’s world shattered when she discovered her husband Will was a bigamist, con man and convicted sex offender. Unbeknownst to her, this would be the start of a bold new chapter in her life, fighting to protect other women from his heartless gaslighting campaigns—and putting a stop to his endless deception.

Mary thought her story would end with the revelation that Will in fact had several families—and numerous children. But when she discovered that he had continued to prey on new victims, she vowed to turn his betrayal into a force for good. On her mission to protect these women and others, Mary also learned more about the psychopathy behind Will’s duplicitous behaviour.

Teaming up with his newest fiancée in the US, Mary attempts to put an end to Will’s devastating activities. But will she and her fellow victims succeed in their ultimate goal: to bring down Will Jordan forever?

Mary Turner Thomson began telling her story in her first book, The Bigamist. Now, in The Psychopath, she delves deeper into Will's betrayal, telling an entirely new story of how she moved on, and helped others do the same.

Full of great information

I enjoyed the reality in this book and it helped me recognize some ex brother-in-laws. It was enjoyable for the most part…up until the author began trashing our president.

Brilliant

It's wonderful to hear a story of a person overcoming abuse and using her story to explore the inner workings of a psychopathic mind.
The book is well written, the story is engaging and highly informative.

Personally, I don't think I was ever affected by a highly psychopathic person but I believe that educating oneself on the subject is crucial.

I believe that anyone who is currently out on the dating scene should read this book.

Big thank you to the author for writing this book.
I especially enjoyed the appendix. Thank you so much highlighting the issue and giving us the tools we can arm ourselves with 🙏

Amazing and enlightening

I loved how the author told the story and although it is non-fiction it grabbed my attention and held it like reading a suspenseful novel. Entertaining and educational. A must read for any single person interested in doing online dating.

In-depth, educational

Educational information of a relationship. All good until she starts talking about a politician which has nothing to do with the story.

Did we need a follow up?

I cannot help but wonder why this follow-up was written. "The Bigamist" was entertaining but this is repetitive, lacks insight (Mary is retelling the experiences of others for huge chunks) and it takes on a clinical diagnosis feel that really became dull. The writing just does not have the spark the first book did. Mary Turner Thomson is quite a good narrator. However, I did not need separate narrators for Will and Michelle's dialog. It was not necessary and distracted a bit from the story. (imho)

Not for me

I bought this book on sale. It is a very disappointing read. There is not much about her psychopathic husband however there is a whole lot about the author herself.

As someone who has studied serial killers for more than 10 yrs I don’t like how she is collecting points to figure out about how psychopathic a person is. That is not for the legman to do. To be honest after my first yrs of studies I thought I knew everything about serial killers, psychopaths, sociopaths, narcissists etc however the more I studied I figured out how little I actually knew. Therefore I don’t like this book.

Besides I noticed how she herself tried to manipulate the father of her child.

I see all the agony and pain this lady has been through moreover I also recognize her self absorption and how she has placed herself on a high horst, that in my opinion it’s time for her to step down from.

DNF
