Clever writing and unusual POV

It isn't offer that a novel's narrator is, unusually, a villain -- one whose acerbic wit and maudlin romantic fantasies, love for her cat, and occasional victimization at the hands of people more twisted than she is, make her just sympathetic enough.
Wonderful, crisp narrative and a fabulous actor performing the novel.
The ending is quite satisfying.

Couldn’t stop listening. Very exciting book! Loved the characters and narration, she gave all the characters life! Excellent until the end!

Enjoyable Listen

I finished this one in a day while I painted the kitchen. Not being hard to figure out who the 'bad guy' was didn't distract from a great story. Well told with a few twists to keep me on my toes. Love the readers voice and will make note of her name for future selections.

I devoured “The Promise You Made.”

A new author to me, A.J, McDine, is now on my favorite search list. Fiona Mitchell, as always, brings her deliciously devious characters to vivid life with her accomplished vocals. I do so prefer British psychological thrillers and this proves why. To top it off, I found this audictive listen in Audible Plus catalogue at no cost. I’ve been on a lucky streak with Plus offerings. McDine pens a suspenseful thriller with curious subplots I couldn’t get enough of, keeping me up until the wee hours of the morning. Both take us a whirlwind of zigzags and jaw-dropping surprises that had me guessing throughout. I didn’t want it to end. I thought I had it all figured out, but there’s so much more, with an eye-opener of a shocking end that left me justifiably satisfied. Highly recommended? Indeed! Yes, l am on that rooftop, shrieking “EPIC, I say, Epic, Epic, Epic!”

Great twist

The book was well written and the narrator has a soothing voice. Accents were well executed also. Plot was good and unexpected

People seemed too willing to kill other people.

This was an interesting story and I got in to it very quickly. I didn’t like the ending and couldn’t figure out if there was a follow-up book. Something was said about part 2 but didn’t catch and no time yet to go back and listen. Overall I enjoyed the story and narrator was great! No GD blues.

This is a true domestic thriller

I love the plot and how it intertwined
between the past and the present. The narration was excellent, and so was the writing. There were so many different plot lines that it was just incredible to be honest

Like Fatal Attraction

Reminded me of a female version of fatal attraction. Thought I knew the ending midway through, but boy was I wrong. The main character is so flawed, to be almost annoying at times but necessary for the story. I’d recommend.

It is an amazing book in my opinion

Something I love about it is the cliffhangers and the flash backs in the book

Umm, WOW

So. Liked the story. Almost felt like I wanted to jump to the end - DONT!! Promise it’s worth the wait!! Did everything from make my heart cry to air punch an asshole to the back of his head. Loved the slow unwrapping of this. Makes my evil twin smile in her sleep!
