About this listen

This world is not safe. Your angels have done great things, but I fear their illusion of safety has been more damaging than they can possibly understand. The ancient evils may be gone, but new ones have replaced them.

Five years have passed since the death of the war god, and now, angels watch over the land. It should be a time of peace and prosperity. It is not.

With King Antonil marching east to retake his former lands from the orcs, Harruq Tun is thrust into a position of power he is completely unprepared for, leaving many plotting to usurp the throne for their own ends. Hovering over it all are the angels, enforcers of the law and wielders of the executioner's blades. Once viewed as humanity's saviors, the angels now find themselves struggling for a proper place in the new world.

Monsters in the Vile Wedge are stirring, and in the south, the nation of Ker moves to protect itself from a rule from on high. War comes, and if Harruq cannot stop it, their paradise of angels may soon become a blood-stained prison.

Fear the grace enforced by the sword.

Great book ruined by a terrible narrator

An otherwise great read was tragically ruined by an absolutely terrible narrator. Constant clicking, sniffing, mispronunciation of words, bad cadence completely ruined the experience and any immersion. I cannot believe audible allowed this to pass through as acceptable. I would recommend anyone reading this to buy the paper format book instead of experiencing what I went through. The narrator should never be allowed to read another book again.

Horrific narration

Mouth noises, odd pauses, who knows what going on in the background. Needs to be re-recorded. The book is worth that for sure.

MOUTH NOISES

Such a great story ruined by a terrible narration. I don't know if he was eating during half of this, or if he just smacks his tongue between sentences, but damn. He also seems to forget he is reading sometimes, pauses incorrectly or runs on other times. EEEEEEEEk.

Poor narration hurts a book.

I have followed this far in the series and read many more by this author, and I have loved every book this man has written. but the narration in this specific instance was painful to listen to. Words were mispronounced, and even pronounced different from one sentence to the next. Tons of background noise were quite apparent as well. I didn't hate the guy's voice, but he would do wonders to invest in a better mic and study each page before reading or even listen to the other 5 books that were narrated so he could understand the pronunciations.

Worst narrator yet

couldn't finish the book. At this point, why not just buy the paperback version. He ruined the story for me.

worst narration in history?

Seriously? 4th grade reading level narrator. So sad, fails to pronounce 3+ syllable words.

Good to finally get this on Audible

When the title released on Audible in October, I quickly re-listened to the Half Orcs series to refresh my memory of all that had happened. This book takes place 5 years after the end of Sliver of Redemption and keeps Dalglish's quick pace. The story flows easily and new characters introduced don't feel out of place in the series.

I was extremely saddened by the narrator. It seemed as if there was no pre-reading done before recording and there were multiple problems across the entire audiobook. It may have been enough to get me to return the purchase and just read the book instead, however the story was too enthralling to put it off. The volume control would be all over the place and on occasion the mic would be bumped and deliver a frightful jump with how loudly I had to turn my volume up to hear sometimes. Pretty early on, it seemed like the poor guy caught a case of the sniffles and kept it to the end.

There are some good qualities to the narration and with training and proper equipment, he could improve his skills.

Hard to Finish

The story on this book was not as good as previous ones. These characters fought amazing and impossible odds in previous books, and now they struggle to fight enemies way weaker. Also, the decisions made by the Angels and the townspeople baffle me. I can deal with most of this, but the narrator was quite possibly the worst I've heard. I couldn't not wait for it to be over.

worst narration ever

I really hope this comes out with a new narrator soon because this man reads at a grade school level at best & has zero emotion in his voice. can't finish this at all because I can't get passed the terrible unnecessary pauses & just all around bad job he does. disappointing because this series has been amazing & the last narrator did amazing, please bring him back.
