About this listen

This is not your friendly neighborhood library.

During a job interview for a branch manager position, Rosalind Lanners learns that others think the library is haunted. But with a horrible credit score, a mountain of school debt, and less than three figures in her bank account, Rosalind takes the job and hides out there at night until she can find an affordable apartment.

When cold spots precede unsettling, seemingly impossible events, Rosalind begins to wonder if the stories are true. These strange occurrences soon take on a more sinister edge, but circumstances outside her control force her to stay in the one place she'd like to escape at all costs.

As she discovers clues about what might be lurking inside the branch, Rosalind learns that those who work in the library...may be just as evil as what lives inside it.

What listeners are saying....

"Characters were well developed. Story was very interesting to keep me wanting to read and not stop."

"The suspense and mystery was kept at a high level.... Just enough light comedic moments to keep the book from being tooooo far on the dark side."

"Read this in a day!! I couldn't put it down. "

"Will have you looking over your shoulder, questioning every creak and whisper, and leave goosebumps all over your body. Written superbly and definitely a book that I will read again and again!"

"The ending was suspenseful and riveting."

Every book in the Sinister Spirits series stands alone, and while the narrators may change, the same characters weave in and out of every novel.

meh

The book was okay, not horrible not great. Overall story was had decent roots. I mostly enjoyed the narration. As it was a female narrator she didn't make the female characters sound like bimbos. That is something I despise. There are books I won't even listen to because of certain male narrators interpretation of female voices. NOTE TO MALE NARRATORS stop doing that! Not every female talks like they are interviewing for Hustler!
Cons: Female character is weak and full of insecurities. She seems to need constant validation. Poor victim tries the patience at times. Most mature women would not allow any person male or female to speak to them that way. Annoying! I kept waiting for her to punch someone in the face or at least show a little more backbone. Instead she passive and seem to accept disrespectful behavior as acceptable in both her personal and professional life. The dog was actually the best character.

Disappointing.

I was new to this author, and this was my first book. I took a chance because I love a good haunted/ghosts stories, and reading a little about what the story was about, it sounded interesting. Boy was I wrong. I must say I am disappointed. The characters and story were boring. Not scary or interesting at all. A couple of scenes and toward the end, even though the narrator read well, she was describing the scenes so animated that I couldn't visualize nor keep up to what was really happening. I'm sure Kirk Kilgrave and Charity Spencer are talented but this story to me was just😝.
