Publisher's summary

Are you tired of hearing people constantly complain and moan about a world problem but offer you no solutions as to what you can do to help resolve this issue?

This might be from close friends or family constantly taking a negative view on this particular issue, or even from hearing about the problem on the news but not hearing any potential solutions. Can you tell what problem I am talking about yet? Of course, I am talking about the manufactured scarcity. Anyone who vaguely follows this topic will know that it is consistently increasing in the US, but many don’t know that it is also increasing across most other countries. So, what can you and I do to help improve the situation?

The Power to Stop Any Illusion of Problems will help offer an insight into how these situations occur - in simple and understandable terms - so that you don’t get confused or demotivated by too much technical jargon. It will then also show you ways that positive change can be made, rather than just telling you about all the negative impacts of scarcity and making you feel as though all hope is lost.

You will be amazed at the content included in this audiobook and the detail that is provided for you to digest. But what really sets this audiobook apart from its competitors is that the information is so well presented and easy to understand.

The Power of Simplicity…

While I am reviewing this book after only listening and my style of comprehension requires visual reading as well, I found it easy listening to follow because of the cadence of the reading, the practical do-ability of the suggestions, and the “simplicity” of the content. When I say simplicity, I am certainly not suggesting that the solutions offered were anything less than brilliant at times; however, the framing of the problem at times lacked the depth needed to be inclusive of the many intervening human factors that create the “illusions” that the authors discuss.

An example would be the framing of educational problems. Since this is my area of interest, I’d certainly appreciate a broader framing of the problem (as it actually exists in today’s America) within the chapter to include how elements of culture, -isms, oligarchy, neo-liberalism, and equity (just to name a few) impact education. Further, when offering solutions - the ones presented are excellent - but capitalism and other factors that guide and impact testing must be solved as well! While the authors mention the purpose of testing (very neatly), the reality of the “testing fallacy” was shown up during the recent pandemic! Tests were suspended (P-16) and the world continued on its’ axis! While I’ll acknowledge the so called “learning lost” during this time, educators and PARENTS are indeed finding new “solutions” to helping students beyond the labels that testing creates!

Nevertheless, this intriguing book could be used as a discussion starter in any high school or college classroom. There is enough information given to initiate/prompt student’s thinking about the issue as presented or even stimulate the reframing of the issue. And without question, the solutions offered will enhance student’s intellectual criticality in problem solving which could include anything from rejection to radical involvement to not just talk but actively engage in “being” a part of the solution to the problem illusions presented! Learning that moves young people to ACTION brings the transformation that is necessary for our sustainability as humans on the planet. I believe that this book has the power to “thrust” us into ‘a realm of thinking’ where we begin to try, search for, and find solutions to those things that are problematic in society. The authors are to be applauded for not holding back on publishing volume 1. It’s simplicity of not trying to include EVERYTHING, but rather to lay out sensible solutions to very complex problems gave me HOPE that we all can participate. Thanks, Roger Moss for sharing this! I’m purchasing a copy and waiting for volume 2.
