About this listen

The sacred word and its power to illuminate and transform our lives lie at the core of the Judeo-Christian, Buddhist, Sufi, and Islamic traditions. By drawing on stories from his own experience and from the lives of the sages, Pandit Tigunait makes this esoteric science accessible to a 21st-century audience. He explains what a mantra is, why various classes of mantras bring different results, and how to use the power inherent in a meditative mantra to awaken inner peace and fuel spiritual enfoldment. Seekers in all times and from all traditions have made the journey from transitory pleasures to eternal joy with help from the science of mantra. This book is for anyone who longs to join them.

A must have for sincere spiritual seekers

Pandit Tigunait has produced a work which is so deeply practical and spiritual at the same time that it is appropriate for the ardent spiritual seeker, the Yogi, and even those who are just beginning to become curious about spirituality. Listening to this book is like tuning into the radio station of the divine. Needless to say I highly recommend it.

Lots of great insight and advice

I've been doing mantra since the 1980s and this book taught me some really useful things about practice. It focuses mostly on Hindu mantra, but since that tradition is so rich, the book naturally applys to other traditions too. Informative and thorough, with great stories and examples.

Deep, informative and very intriguing.

Pundit Tigunait is incredibly gifted with his vast knowledge of Sanskrit and all related subjects. He has a heart to match. Knowing him personally through the Himalayan Institute has made this book come alive for me. My 4th read of it now and always there is something new to be discovered.

For Spiritual seekers

A great book though the audio could use an accompanying PDF; a physical copy of the book provides figures that might aid in the assimilation of information.

Here's how mantra can help you.. IF ....

What would have made The Power of Mantra and Mystery of Initiation better?

The book gives great historical and religious insight on mantras - however, it spends 30% teaching readers about mantra and their power, and then 70% telling you how you need to be initiated to use one properly. This made it seem more like a ploy for their sect than an actual book on how to utilize japa or mantra meditation.
