About this listen

New York Times best-selling author Lisa Renee Jones brings a fresh, modern take to the thriller genre that will keep you guessing until the very end.

“The poet is a liar who always speaks the truth.” (Jean Cocteau)

Some call him friend or boss.
Some call him husband or dad.
Some call him son, even a favorite son.

But the only title that matters to him is the one the media has given him: The Poet.

A name he earned from the written words he leaves behind after he kills that are as dark and mysterious as the reason he chooses his victims.

One word, two, three, a story in a poem, a secret that only Detective Samantha Jazz can solve. Because he’s writing this story for her.

She just doesn’t know it yet.

Kept me guessing and doubting! Good story! Narration was good as I’m very sensitive to that.

Loved it!

Or perhaps like a pilot episode of a TV series, I just needed to give it a chapter or two and pay attention to the character development.
I’m glad I stuck with it. I enjoyed this story. A first for me by this author.

All in all- it wasn’t necessarily an edge of your seat story but it kept my interest. I ended up not hating the narrators or their names (which bothered me in the beginning) and will search for others books by this author.

It was a slow start and kind of cheesy at first…

Good thriller with a lot of twists. The denials narrator is awesome, but I did not like the male narrator that much as it didn’t fit the character, but overall great story

Great story with good twists

Never dull; real 'page turner'. There was some language some may find offensive. Some sex talk, but nothing graphic, and no scenes.

Exciting

The narration really etches out the the different personas in the book. The ending is rather lackluster though for a plot of this magnitude. Great stuff nonetheless.

Bone chilling narration, I love it!

Scott Brick is an awesome narrator and I really like Brittany Presley, some think her voice is not great for these characters but I do! I’ve listened to a handful she has narrated and I just like her voice!! Listen to a sample and judge for yourself!! This story is really interesting, & thrilling & keeps you guessing to the end! The female narrator doesa great job with all the different characters, it’s just a fantastic book!!!

Love this book so much!!!
