About this listen

'A heart-pounding read that had me glued to the pages.’ Keri Beevis

How do you know if you've married the wrong person?

It was a whirlwind romance and we had the perfect relationship. He was my dream partner: loving, caring, attentive… until the day I married him and things became toxic.

I spent my wedding night in A&E with an ‘unexplained’ broken wrist – but I knew what happened…

My romantic illusions shattered. My fear of the future heightened.

The man I had fallen in love with wasn't the man I married.

And that was just the start of things to come.

Quickly, things escalated. He isolated me from family and friends, and with no one to turn to, he began to control every part of my life.

I tried to escape, but he watched my every move.

Until one day he went too far, and I found my strength to fight back.

I no longer wanted to be a victim. I wanted to live. I wanted my life back.

But at what cost?

In sickness and in health and till death us do part…

The bestselling psychological thriller, based on a horrifying true story. Perfect for fans of Louise Candlish and Adele Parks.

Ridiculous & repetitive

Where do I start…I think this may be one of the worst books I have ever listened to. By chapter 10 I didn't think I could go any further. How could this book have been written by an experienced author…and published?!

This is yet another book with a seemingly successful female character who marries this chap after 8months, then he changes, and she becomes a not-so successful female character. Its not even the obvious story, or even the fact she speaks to herself a lot (and not in an amusing way) 'Sophie you must do something' etc… but examples like….he locked her out of the room but she sleeps outside at the pool because she is too embarrassed to ask reception for a room key as she is in her pyjamas. Or later the police telling her she is safe now, then 2 sentences later, but he can come back and kill you. And SO many statements repeated so many times!

I did not think the narrator did a bad job at all (considering what she had to work with), however the high ratings on Amazon makes me think reading the book may be better. Frankly I don't know how. Without a doubt I will be returning this book.
