Make this a movie

This needs to be made into a movie or a mini series for television. So entertaining.

Curse versus Love

Being a historical novel reader, my standards are often hard to please. I want more than the tight arms embracing the heroin. I need some story line to be there as well. Catherine Coulter's (CCS) books have that: story line with romance and mystery/fantasy. I have chosen several of her books as they are an easy read/listen while multi-tasking: don't require a lot of brain power; have a smacking of sexual tension; and almost always leave me contented after the read.

Story line: suffice it to say that there is a curse. Aha the title! This curse has been placed upon a castle and the female family line, that appears to -kill off- any suitors, or husbands. The plot builds on ending the curse for one such suitor. There is the continued repeating of the CURSE and legend. GOT IT! At times I felt a strain between the seams of reality and fantasy. Not enough, though, to stop me from reading and enjoying the book. Someone else wrote that they found it boring. That person probably didn't finish the novel and/or like fantasy.

CC is NOT Jane Austen or George Eliot. Her books don't deal with realistic interactions of the time period; rather deals with love, courtship, and historical romance and fantasy uniquely interwoven. IF this doesn't fit your style, than most likely you will not like her novels.

However, if you would like to be entertained, without a lot of War and Peace drama, then this novel fits the bill. If you need the Darcy and Elizabeth dialogue - then don't purchase this audio book. Think of it this way: There is Jack and the Beanstalk or Alice in Wonderland; not everyone would enjoy the differing styles and would prefer ONE over the other.

BAD version of meets Harry Potter with pornography

So ridiculous. Not. Historical fiction but fantasy filled with sex. Extremely disappointed. Waste of money

Fools gold

The main characters really didn’t change / evolve over the course of the story. It was very difficult to invest in them and on the whole, it felt slapdash. Glimmered with a lot of promise in the premise, but ended up dissatisfied because there wasn’t authenticity or evolution. Not much to root for except arriving at the last page. A longtime fan of CC’s work (and I admire any completed work for the sheer effort of finishing), so I will certainly read more of her writings.. but maybe not this series.

Medieval series

Narrator is awful. She makes the book/story lag and becomes boring. The previous books are amazing.

great performance on a painful story

it went to midsummer nights dream style... just really fantastical when u wanted more historical fiction. and if you're going to do fantasy, do it from the legends of the time... instead it was just straight fantasy.

Too Confusing.

Narrator was as awesome as usual but story plot was too confusing. Struggled to finish and fast forwarded a lot. I'm a huge fan of Catherine Coulter but I did not enjoy this particular book.

The Penwyth Curse (unabridged)

I thought this story was boring. But that will not stop me from buying more of her books.
