About this listen

For Larry "Buddy" Torrence, childhood ended in 1965 after his best friend, Daniel, killed himself. They were seventh-grade classmates at a newly integrated school in redneck southeast Texas. Buddy's been a brooding loner since then, unable to stop blaming himself because he alone knows something chilling about Daniel's death.

It's a stunning secret that he dared not tell anyone back then—not his parents, not the beautiful young psychologist he's infatuated with, and certainly not the police and school authorities investigating this perplexing case. Nine years have gone by, and 21-year-old Buddy is finally ready to reveal the truth and seek forgiveness.

Come along on this emotional ride into the 60s and 70s, a fascinating time filled with remarkable social changes, and see what secrets lie at The Outskirts of Redemption.

Great Listen!

I found this to be a great representation of how a young boy perceives the environment around him while going through the event of a crisis. The story forces you to step back and look through a different lens (in this case a young boy) and process things in a different way that you might not be used to. It helped me appreciate the fact that there are many different ways that people process and overcome adversity in their lives.

Outstanding!

Highly recommend this book. Great narrator and an even better story about a very sad and serious subject. Excellent characters throughout the book.

Excellent Audiobook

I loved listening to this audiobook. The story, written by Clayton Trier, was an excellent story following the main character's memories through boyhood, teen years, and young adult to adult years. I don't want to give any of the story plot away in my review, but the story was excellent, and the narration by Steve Corona brought it to life. I love the character voices he used to bring the characters to life. I was so immersed in this story narration that I forgot I was listening to an audiobook at times. I definitely recommend this audiobook.
