A group of friends including Kendall Grey, Riley Panova, Tammy Bridge, and Celine and Corrine DeCaste are seemingly typical teenagers who live in the small town of Rockledge. Their different personalities lead them to adventures around the town; their historical meet-up place, the orange grove; and later to Miami, a place that Kendall has been trying to avoid for unknown reasons.
Despite not wanting to go, Kendall eventually agrees due to her need to please her father who has been hiding something from her. In Miami, the girls meet Cindy Williams, a longtime friend of Riley's; however, Kendall doesn't hide her mild contempt for her. They later receive news of a murder that happened in their quiet town and rush home, which initiates a series of events that takes the life of Tammy Bridge. Kendall is now in questioning and as she speaks to the detective, she'll have to distinguish what's real and what's not in order to get to the truth.
