Suspenseful

Story is excellent. Although the narration was a bit quirky at times. The edits/ changes made by the narrator were done when the narrator’s voice was different ( due to the effects from a cold or other vocal condition ) which disrupted the flow of the story.

Best So Far in 2025….

Liked the premise, except for a few ‘hard to believe’ passages, an engaging story. Decide for yourself on the last few chapters and Epilogue. Will try another Joseph Finder novel.

Good story, excellent narrator!

Engaging story, excellent narrator w/good pronunciation of Russian words. A bit too much use of “said,” the last 1/3 of book. I enjoyed the book & listened to it even when not in the car. I appreciated the more current storyline.

Finder does it again!

I love how this book grabbed my attention from the beginning and never let it go. It was a Rollercoaster of a ride with a fast pace and so many twists and turns. I completed it in a day and half only because I had to sleep. You must read this book!

Finder's Find

One of the best Joseph FInder's novels I have read.. The story was simply banal in the first chapters focusing on Tatyana's simple beginning until the plot builds up and becomes more complicated delving into the adventure and misadventures of Paul Brightman. He is no ordinary character in the league of Jack Ryan Jr. but I was fascinated by his down to earth resourcefulness and his daring, risky encounters with the Russian mob and FBI/CIA agents. The last few chapters were unexpected and I liked the way the book ended. This book was worth listening. My 12-hr flight to the far East made my time more rewarding.

Heart pounding excitement

For five years Grant Anderson has been earning his living as a boat builder in Derryfield, New Hampshire. Sarah is a 1st grade teacher and Grant’s girlfriend since his arrival in Derryfield. He listens attentively to her stories about her days’ events and her background but he doesn’t share much about his past. She’s becoming curious as to what he did before he arrived in town.
Grant‘s friend Lyle Boudreau is the captain and owner of Deep Sea Charter. Lyle, who has come down with a bug, asks Grant if he will stand in for him and take the scheduled client out on his boat. While out on the water Grant is confronted by Frederick Newman, the client, who announced that he has come prepared to kill him. When Newman pulled a gun and details his murderous plan, a struggle ensues and Newman is killed and his body is dumped overboard. When Grant returns to shore he realizes that his five years of living in obscurity under another name is over.
His real name is Paul Brightman, superstar performer at a New York City hedge fund. He meets a beautiful aspiring photographer who lives under her mother’s maiden to distance herself from the notorious Russian oligarch, Arkady Gawkin.

It was so interesting how it all came together. Intriguing all the interconnected Russia and US interests and information.
