Publisher's summary

When the luxurious Blue Train arrives at Nice, a guard attempts to wake serene Ruth Kettering from her slumbers. But she will never wake again - for a heavy blow has killed her, disfiguring her features almost beyond recognition. What is more, her precious rubies are missing.

The prime suspect is Ruth's estranged husband, Derek. Yet Hercule Poirot is not convinced, so he stages an eerie reenactment of the journey, complete with the murderer on board.

Outstanding Narration

Hugh Frasier's variety of accents bring an enthralling vibrancy to Christie's work. You feel as if you are surrounded by a cast, each telling what they saw (or what they want you to think they saw!) when in truth it is one talented man's voice. The story is full of lush descriptions, twists and turns in the Christie way, and the characters are easily recognizable- indeed whatever the audio equivalent of "leap off the page"- due to the individuality of voice the narrator applies to them.

One of my HP faves

A great precursor to MOTOE. Christie begins to explore the possibilities of train-based murder. A blessed return to strong story telling after the dreadful Big Four. Excellent characterisation and fun caricatures (so?)! Fraser in high narrating form.

Every bit as good as the other train story!

Stories appeal to me if they pique my interest and I can’t wait to listen again at my earliest possible convenience. This is how I felt the entire time while enjoying The Mystery of the Blue Train, the “other” train mystery less lauded.

Poirot solves a complex jewelry rhefr/murder

I love everything Agatha Christie wrote. I love hearing them read but such a talented voice actor, as this. The plot and characters are perfectly written and Poirot solves his mystery with great satisfaction.

Very intriguing book

Many are the twists and turns in this narration of the Blue Train. I've read a lot of Christie's books, but never this one. Intriguing to say the least.

Classic Christie

Hugh Fraser perfectly captures the atmosphere of one of my favorite AC novels. Well worth listening to for fans of the genre.

Great!

I forgot I was listening to the story & not watching television.
Hugh Fraser was awesome in all parts, i especially enjoyed him the Hercule Poirot that I know, David Suchet.

Hugh Fraser is perfect for this Poirot classic

At the outset let me say I am a huge Hercule Poirot fan. I dare say I have seen almost every show availble on TV at least once. Thanks to BritBox, I am completing the final seasons. I was not familiar with The Mystery of the Blue Train, so I was it was available and with the wonderful performance of Capt. Hastings - I mean Hugh Fraser. As with most Agatha Christie's mysteries, you never know where they will lead you. This is a classic Christie, a' la Poirot mystery. Enjoy this well-written 1928 classic.

Agatha Christie is my favorite author

As always, her mysteries are edge of your seat whodunnits. However, for the first time in one of her books, I struggled to remember which character was whom. But still an excellent story!
