About this listen

A transport plane carrying an important Taliban detainee for interrogation is shot down in a blizzard over the Hindu Kush. The storm makes rescue impossible, and for two people -navigator Michael Parson and a woman Army interpreter, Sergeant Golda battle for survival begins across some of the most forbidding terrain on earth against not only the hazards of nature, but the treacheries of man: the Taliban stalking them; the villagers, whose loyalty is unknown; and a prisoner who would very much like the three of them to be caught. All Parson and Golda have is each other, to stay alive.

Critic reviews

"A magnificent novel. Courage and honor in the face of the enemy have not been so brilliantly portrayed since the great novels of World War II." (Jack Higgins)

Great listen and series! Want more of them!

These are exciting novels. Amazon has more of the series in books. Audible, please get them in audio version. Then whisper-sync and don't forget Scott Brick. A dream come true.

Better than I expected

I wasn't sure that I would like a book about the war in Afghanistan, but this one was interesting and held my attention. (Also, I'm a big fan of Scott Brick, so that made it even better.)

Factual Story

As a Army Helicopter Pilot, I was very impressed with the reality the author gave to difficulties in the battle areas and the limitations they would have. The story of the dedication to "complete the mission" was very strong and for many would be quite believable. In some of the harshest environments in the world, the author was very real in his story and description of the severity of the climates and conditions. The author tells the story as one would if they were reliving the nightmare dream and it becomes very real. Overall I would hope the author keeps writing in this environment, as a pilot, and as a "Jack Reacher" character! I think this author has qualities I would like to see more in the future. As always SCOTT BRICK is the best narrator in the business and really brings this story to life!!! The only area for me I wish the author would have done is the ending could have had a more defined closing; it was left rather boldly empty, but that is the authors choice too!! As a whole expanding to a new author in this story I was NOT disappointed!!!

Stunningly good and accurate!

As a veteran of the Afghan theater, this is so on point it gives me flash backs of my time there. Amazing story, the characters have flaws and you can relate to them. One of the best military fiction books I have ever read!! I salute the author , keep writing !

The Mullah's Storm

This book was on author Brad Thor's recommended writers list, I don't recall if it was here or on another site, but I too recommend this title for anyone enjoying Thor's work or the likes of Brad Meltzer or Vince Flynn.

The story itself was quick paced and easy to get "in to". The story was not so complex that it took effort to follow and was crisply written. The narrator is Scott Brick and in my mind that gives credit in itself to the quality of the book. Brick does a great job reading as usual.

I highly recommend anyone to read/listen to this title on their next road trip.

Mullah's Storm

WEB Griffin's recommendation was what brought me to this writer and he was spot on. Well written, familiar with technology of the military and ilts training, weapon systems, leadership requirements, expectations, patriotism, UCMJ pledge, etc. It is all here and done extremely well. Thank you for a great book. We hope you write more. Done is the style of Vince Flynn, WEB Griffin, David Baladacci, Nelson Demille.

Had a hard time putting this one down.

Would you listen to The Mullah's Storm again? Why?

There aren't many books I'd read/listen to twice because for me at least, once I get the story, I get it. This is an exception to that because there are many details that I would pay more attention to more closely that would or could explain the story better.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Yes, the plot was what kept me listening well into the wee hours when I should have been sleeping. Although a book of fiction, there were many true and valid insights into how our guys approach a mission and then how they carry out that mission. It also gave me some insight as to what the oppositions motivations were. It's wise to know one's adversaries. This book helps define the thought patterns of our adversaries, at least in my opinion.

Which character – as performed by Scott Brick – was your favorite?

Didn't have a favorite character, per se. I saw elements in most of the characters I admire but also elements that were negative that I personally strive to avoid. I don't think any of the portrayed characters were written in terms of black & white but rather, like us all were written in many shades of grey.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

I can't think of one and not any one line would surmise the book so I won't even try.
