About Ladies in Danger series

This series is about the adventures of the marquess of Southgate named simply as "South" as he unravels the mysteries of the regency era.

South, the Marquess of Southerton, is on quest to retrieve some love letters from a Duke's past lover. Bored to go through another season, he goes to the Lady's house and finds a way to be invited to stay. The Lady is married to a man who looks like a scholar and very genteel but she seems to be intensely unhappy. After a while, South finds out some strange happenings in the house. What is the mystery of the bleeding mirror?

The Mirror was bleeding

I wasn't really enamored by this book.I tried. The narration by Samuel E Hoke had me aware of every mispronounced word. The story was mediocre.Maybe I needed to read the first two first.I was provided this book by the author, narrator or publisher.

Pretty good story, narration was weird at times

What made the experience of listening to The Mirror Was Bleeding the most enjoyable?

Listening to it was actually hard to get into because of the editing.

What did you like best about this story?

I like the character twists even though I could see some of them coming.

What does Samuel E. Hoke bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

His narrating voice was good, sometimes a tad too thick but not distracting. What was distracting was the recording and editing. There were so many abrupt stops and pick ups that really took me away from the story. There were lots of times when sentences were run on top of each other or the flow was stopped abruptly in the beginning.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

"Murder. Treason. Romance." thanks deby

Any additional comments?

The story is a good murder mystery of trying to find out who did it with a good twist but overall lacking in originality, not bad but also nothing new.

A Well Developed Mystery..

Any additional comments?

This was a well written mystery with a few twists.

The story line kept me guessing to the very end and was an overall engaging read.

I am very interested in the rest of the books in this series.

Samuel E. Hoke did well with the narration.

Murder. Treason. Romance.

This Regency genre novella starts innocently enough with the dalliance of a duke. It moves quickly as the tables turn on our hero. The story unwinds in a satisfactory manner.

I am beginning to understand the attraction of audio books. Samuel Hoke's narration is understated yet adds significantly to the story.
