About this listen

In the winter of 1882, a boy from the mountains has to prove himself a man.

~*~

When Albie Bramwell’s father died, he was left with two thousand hectares of mountain to farm, and little help to run it. Abandoned by all but two of his workers, the whole town of Alpine Falls called him too young to run the farm alone.

Young, yes. At just nineteen, he was determined to prove them wrong. Even if it killed him.

In search of a new life, Percy Collins found himself in a small mountain town where he ran into a man not much older than himself and scored a job at Echo Creek. A property full of misfits, or so the townsfolk had called it. But what Percy found was a home.

What Albie found was something he never thought possible. A man to love, and a man to share his dreams.

But times were tough, the winter harsh, and money scarce. Albie and Percy would need to do more than prove themselves worthy. They’d need to not only prove themselves better than anyone else. They’d need to prove it twice.

Left Such a Warm Feeling in My Heart… 💞💞💞‼️

I read/listened to a substantial part of this book/audiobook upon its release and then caring for my Mother who has Dementia, prevented me from getting back to it until now.
I started from the very beginning, relishing in what I’d 📖 previously (the story, characters, romance, lovemaking, etc.), but as the first time, found myself repeatedly and repeatedly surprised by the depth of the characters, plot/story development and ALL THE WAY through to the VERY end, I loved 🥰 each and every iota of this book.
N.R. Walker has NEVER let me down or disappointed, ALWAYS going above and beyond…. 👏👏👏‼️
Thank you N.R. for “The Men From Echo Creek… 😘😘😘

enjoyed it

📖 Story comment: Good pace, likeable characters, entertaining story.
I enjoyed both Alby and Percy's characters, they're both charming and likeable guys.
Great "visuals" that really enhanced the feel of the mountains and loved the misfit family of characters to enhance the story.
🎧 Narration comment: Glen Lloyd's narration really suits this story. I had no problem distinguishing characters, his rhythm, tone and inflections have done a great job bringing The Men from Echo Creek to life

N.R. Walker + Glen Lloyd = Excellence once again!

I always enjoy N.R. Walker's books, but I think this is one of my favorites. It reminded me of one of my favorite movies growing up - The Man from Snowy River. I wore out the VHS tape watching it! I was so excited for this book to be released on audio and it did not disappoint. Great characters in a great setting. I will definitely be re-listening at some point in the future. Glen Lloyd did an excellent job with the various voices. It was full of heart and humor with just enough tension to keep things interesting and a very, very satisfying HEA. Thank you N.R. Walker and Glen Lloyd!!!

Characters

I enjoyed the historical setting and the morality and deferral to taking the high road. I’m happy to find the high road led them to satisfaction!

Aussie Horsemen

I’m a serious N.R. Walker fan, and I love stories involving horses, men who work with horses, and MM romance. Walker’s story is in a microcosm of Australian history and early ranching. Such a well written glimpse into the lives of the men working a ranch high on the mountain slopes. Love the detail of chasing down the brumbies! That’s just one of the Australian slang words I had to look up. Terms like damper bread, and putting fresh water in the billy….
Wonderful book - a pleasurable listen and a fantastic narrator if you choose the audio book.
