About this listen

This absorbing narrative brings the New Testament story into fresh focus as seen through the eyes of the disciple John. Marvel anew at the miracle of the incarnation and its ever unfolding effects on earth, as John meets Jesus in Galilee, watches him die in Jerusalem, and then experiences the thrill of the empty tomb on that glorious first Easter morning.

Critic reviews

“Davidson gives a spirited reading that uses his distinctive voice well….his voice has a peculiar gait that makes this work a pleasure to listen to and an energy that sustains the excitement, and wonder, of this tale.” ( AudioFile)

Excellent!

This book was a different way of looking at the life of Christ. I enjoyed it immensely. I also had trouble “putting it down”!

Beneficial, enjoyable

Not as well-written as Polluck's "The Apostle", but greatly enjoyed it. It could use a more modern narrator.

The astounding life of Jesus of Nazareth

With knowledge of the life and times of Jesus in vivid description and a reach tapestry of the words of The Master through out the spoken word ; non believers and believers alike will find the awe inspiring life of Christ
one soul shaking experience.
Brought to tears at times as the theatre of the mind imagines the world of the first century listening to the unfolding tale, it’s as if one is there and can almost see and touch, and smell the events in all there unfolding timeless wonder. It was like being born again ; all over again !Only this time in the first century at the feet of The Master.

Needs to be redone with a different narrator

I listened to The Apostle first. It was excellent on all levels. Unfortunately the narrator for this book is an extreme disappointment. I don't think the man is capable of showing any emotion. The book is being read like a boring history book. It was an effort of will to stay awake while listening. This book needs to be rerecorded by the narrator of The Apostle.

Listen to a sample first

Mr Davidson's voice was mega annoying...I mean who doesn't like an English accent but ....this particular regional accent was tough. I'm sure he'd feel the same about mine. The upside is Pollock sews together the gospels and moved the ball fwd for my understanding of the greatest sacrifice ever told. So if you're lazy like me - buy this and Pollocks other work on Paul (which is fantastic)

this is a difficult story not handled well

the author did a poor job not the least of which was using this reader. he glossed over some of the Christ's most important parables. this author continues to use the word: "race" this word did not exist when the NT was written. it comes from european colonialism.

Disappointed

The narrator is too British and too feminine. Should have used the narrator for The Apostle.
