About this listen

For as long as I've lived, Dark Walkers have been hunting Plaguers, seeking them for their magic. But there's one Plaguer they want most of all. Me.

Since the fall of civilization, the human race has been barely surviving. Another outbreak of the Bloody Death could be our final straw and there's only one way to ensure that doesn't happen. I need to kill the leader of the Dark Walkers.

I'm stronger than ever but with more to lose than I ever thought possible. For the first time, I feel like I've got a family, a home...Dax.

So here I am; ready to fight. Winner take all.

Epic finishg to a great series!

Where does The Magic rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I think this was an amazing book. It needs the prior ones in the series to shine, but shine it does! This is so far one of my favorite audio book series!

What other book might you compare The Magic to and why?

I am not fond of the others but The Choosing, is a good comparable book. Similar genre and with the same kind of exiting action and character development.

What about Angel Clark’s performance did you like?

Angel Clark is an amazing narrator. Her performances always suck me into the story.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I definitely wanted to listen to it in a single sitting, but I kept getting nervous over the fate of the characters and would have to pause due to its intensity. I finished it in two sittings though.

I freaking love this series!

Dahl and Dax finally come together in a relationship in this book. The entire series is beautifully written. The character creation is well thought out and brings the perfect characters together. The leader of the Dark Walkers tries to use Dahl to find healing areas for his species to heal and no longer need the skin of humans. It drains Dahlia's magic and body to do this for him. But it's that or all out war. We find out why Tiffy is so odd in this book as well. The child that seems way too old for her years . She may be older than we thing. This is the book where the war between the Dark Walkers and Plaguers comes to a head. It's truly one of my favorite series, I listened to all of them within a week..

Post-Apocalyptic Supernatural Adventure

The Wilds series interweaves a post-apocalyptic world with the evolution of supernatural abilities. The fourth book in the series delivers the goods on the questions that build throughout the series. Who are the Dark Walkers? What are the beasts and where did they come from? What do the Skinners use the skin for? What is the Wood Mist and why are they in opposition to the Dark Walkers? And, most of all, what does any of this have to do with Dal, Dax, and their friends? Entertaining read!

I hated the protagonist

So, usually when I read a book to myself, the main character is fairly likable and interesting. I have no problem understanding the motivation behind the actions they take or don't take.

In this book, I hated the protagonist. She was stupid. She was clueless. She did stupid stuff simply because she felt like it. She seriously didn't get what the heck was going on... with her lovelife, her motivations, or anything.

It made for good reading. Even as I was rolling my eyes (as I drove down I-5 to go to work), listening to the exploits of this girl, I found myself excited to see what was going to happen next.

The story: 5 stars. I liked the story, and emotionally reacted to the protagonist.

The narration: This series was the first time I'd listened to Angel Clark as a narrator, and I enjoyed it. Some of the 'boy' voices were a little overdone (like Bookie's) but he was always recognizable without needing a prompt as to his identity. I really enjoyed the pacing of the narration. Not too fast, not too slow. Very listenable.

This version was Whispersync for Voice ready, a feature I was really happy to use.
