With the help of his brilliant colleague, investigative journalist Hana Sinclair, solving the puzzle exposes a cleverly concealed map that marks the hiding place of a sacred artifact - one with shocking implications.
From Rome to France and Switzerland, his search for the object finds Dominic pitted against deadly agents and a ruthless Russian oligarch. Desperate, he must choose between trusting an unlikely collection of possible allies - or certain death. As his enemies close in, can he survive and bring this staggering new secret to light, or will his pursuers bury it beside him in the cold, dark earth of a long-forgotten cave?

Story
In ancient Rome, a woman flees for her life. Hidden beneath her blue cloak are secrets men will kill for - forgeries that prove the newly self-appointed bishops are pretenders who will stop at nothing to shape this new religion to their own ends. Two thousand years later, classical archaeologists Valentina Vella and Erika Simone stumble across an ancient parchment buried deep in the Vatican archives. To reveal Julia's legacy will put them in the crosshairs of a venomous Vatican battle for power and supremacy; to stay silent would make them complicit in an ancient heresy.

The third secret is sealed away in the Vatican, read only by popes, and not disclosed until the year 2000.

Another Exciting Adventure
I enjoyed the first book in the series. I really like the good characters and hate the bad ones. Father Dominic and friends have genuine respect and love for each other and the bad guys are despicable. I also love how accepting Dominic is of various relationships and issues that aren't always accepted by others, he handles them with grace. More priests should be like him. I still think he and Hana should be a couple.
I enjoyed the adventure and progression of the story in this universe, shocking revelations along with wonderful twists and turns. Just the right mix of adventure, history and intrigue. I also love how people relate in these books, they take time to talk things over. I've become a fan of this author and am really enjoying this series. The respect, love and attention the author has put into this series is evident. Now on to the last book in this series, before I move on to his new one! Will Damron narrates this beautifully, he has such a gorgeous voice.

Wonderful
This is a very difficult subject for a Catholic to listen to. However, it was done with great grace and says it makes no definite pronouncements, it was an excellent production. Thank you. Mark Pollack

Do the Magdalene's bones rest alone?
Book 2 of the Magdalene series
This time Father Dominic, Hana Sinclair, and their friends in the Swiss Guards hunt for the Magdalene reliquary in which her bones have rested for 2000 years. And those aren’t the only bones they find.
The clues this time are in the form of a 3-dimentional puzzle map which Hana solves over night. That sends them into a cave where the bones of the Magdalene have rested for 2000 years.
They aren’t the only ones after these bones. As the oligarchs’ henchmen follow Dominic et al to the cave, we see the Swiss Guards in action. They’re the equivalent of our Navy Seals in training, not just dressed up for tourists to photograph at the Vatican.
This book reveals how Michael and his mentor, Cardinal Petrini, are related. McAvoy does a good job explaining DNA, Carbon 14 dating, and GPS tracking.
