Wishing your husband dead isn’t a crime...

When you return from a work trip to find your husband dead in the pond, it’s best not to call him a liar and a cheat in front of the cops. Especially when you’ve spent the last few years telling anyone who’ll listen that you sometimes fantasize about killing him. It makes you look kind of, well, guilty.

Now I’m suspect number one for Nathaniel’s murder and the police are snooping around our perfect home. And the house is perfect because I designed it, down to the last marbled detail. You could say I designed our marriage, too. As soon as I saw Nathaniel—so handsome, successful, a surgeon—I knew I wanted him. Sadly our marriage wasn’t quite as perfect as our house. But whose is?

The cops want to talk to our daughters, our friends, even our staff. There’s the housekeeper, the cook, the pool cleaner, the dog walker. But like me, they were all out of town when he died. They won’t have anything to say about what happened. Certainly nothing that will suggest I had something to do with it...

A gripping and utterly compulsive story that will have you racing toward the final seconds. Fans of The Housemaid, The Perfect Marriage, and anything by Lisa Jewell will be up all night listening to The Lucky Widow.

Totally surprised to find out Emma was behind everything!

Everything about the story was great. Twists and turns made the story the best! Highly recommend

The story was twisty

I loved this book. First time reading more of Samantha’s books. The end was fantastic.

A Little Far Fetched, but Good Story

I loathed...absolutely LOATHED the character of the detective. I felt that her character had no redeeming qualities. As much as I was into the storyline, when the detective was narrating, I wanted to throw my phone across the room. Nevermind whether she was right or wrong (which I pretty much knew all along whether or not she was) I couldn't stand her petty, jealous, jumping to conclusions, self righteous character. Dogged determination in a detective is admirable when they think they're right because of a hunch or because of the evidence, but in this case, neither was the driving factor, which is what made me despise her so much. She had a grudge, and was jealous. That was what drove her. I sympathized with the protagonist, and was fine with the way things turned out, though the way things were accomplished stretched credibility, but the story was enjoyable enough that I was okay with suspending disbelief a little further than I otherwise would have. ***Mild Spoilers Ahead*** The story could have very well been a version of Jeffrey Epstein, Ghiselane Maxwell, and their associates if the heidhtescapades had taken place today rather than a couple decades ago.

Should Be a Movie

At first I wasn’t sure I would like this book but more I listened to the story the more interesting and intriguing it is. Only the best and seasoned actors and actresses should play the key roles. This would be an excellent movie with the right casting.

I read this book after being disappointed with several books in a row... But Samantha brings the whole twisted story to a spectacular conclusion. Bravo!!

Okay

It took me a while to get into the story. A lot of unnecessary ramblings and some things could've made it better, one being Gordon could've been old enough to be Nate's father. Now That would've been an interesting and believable twist if he's in his 60's and Nate on his late 30's. The book is full of unlikeable spoiled entitled people. Emma's really no better than Nate considering how she plotted to marry a rich man. Though it's cheesy and cringe in several areas, it's a decent read.
