Most entertaining listen!

I have listed to a large number of audiobooks over recent years, many of them of them excellent - however, this is the first time I have been sufficiently motivated to actually write a review. This was just a perfect combination of original story, entertaining witty characters and a wonderful narrator. Michael Page's range and consistency of voices brought the whole thing to life.

A slight warning is in order to those of a nervous disposition, however - the story contains occasional graphic descriptions of violence and frequent "colourful" language.

Nice and original fantasy

Where does The Lies of Locke Lamora rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I listened to several audio books and I would place it to the second place after songs of ice and fire.

What other book might you compare The Lies of Locke Lamora to and why?

Somewhat it associates with The Rise of the blue moon. It has a nice sense of humor but not diminishing the seriousness of the story...

Definitely worth it. One of the best fantasy books for me...

MUST READ 4 FANTASY FANS

This is definitely one of the best fantasy books I have read/ listened to ( and I've the read LOTR, Game of Thrones series, Potter Series, most of Wheel of Time and more). The narration is excellent and appropriate for the elaborate world created by Scott Lynch. If your a fan of gritty realism (i.e Game of Thrones), elaborate plots, witty banter and clever characters (i.e Tyrion Lannister/ Matt Cauthon) then you should definitely pick this book/ audio book up.

Unexpectedley awesome

Wow.

That would be the best way to describe what i thought of this book when I had finished it. Never read or listened to a Scott Lynch book before and never heard Michael Page's narration. They both are in my stable of favourites now.

To the book itself. The story is told in a present with flashbacks style which actually took some getting used to at first but by the end made the story work perfectly. It is filled with fantastic characters, richly developed and full of their own flaws. Threads of story lines are sewn throughout and add great promise for future titles in the series.

The violence like the colourful language is brutal but used exactly as much as needed. While it makes this a book not to be listened to with your children in the car, every bit of it makes the story better.

The narration is superb. Accents, character identity, emotion you can feel and perfect consistency. I've not heard such a fantastic range of completely unique voices since Steven Pacey in Joe Abercrombie's First Law series. A definite hats off to Michael Page.

I eagerly look forward to Red Seas under Red Skies.

clever, suspenseful and witty

with a book such as this you are always trying to see the plan before it is revealed, however I ws always left surprised and entertained.

Blew me away, so much more than hope for!

Excellent! One of the best fantasy novels I've read in a a long time. Even more enjoyable than The Name of the Wind by Rothfuss. Likeable and realistic characters in "a wonderfully realised world" (George RR Martin). I doubt I'll be able to resist starting the sequel tonight.

I wish more fantasy lived up this!

Great story and good listen. Narrator took a little getting use to. But I'm a fan 😊😊

Amaaazingly entertaining and epic!

Loved quite fast. The readers performance is fenominal, and it is definetly a unique experience! One of the Best ones i've read yet!

Epic book, but the narrator stole the show.

I loved the book, it was a fantastic listen and I can't wait to start the second and third books.
What really made this book that much more epic was the narration done by Michael Page, I tip my hat to you Sir.
I will definitely keep my eyes open for more books narrated by Michael Page.
