WOW what a hidden gem! WELL worth the credit!

Great "ghost" story but not one thing was cliche or predictable !!! I loved it. i have 3,000 audible books and most are horror, thrillers & post apocalypse[pic this is definitely in my top 10.

It's actually 2 books in one. The first is a man haunted in his new flip house. Great back story, very believable and not your typical ghost story. Part one lagged in a few spots but part 2 which explains how the place came to be haunted was PHENOMENAL!!!!! That one section alone could have been a movie.

don't hesitate - get it! off to see what else the author has written. I'll get it no matter what!

Mildred Wells

I hate to say this, but I am so glad that this book is finished! It had great potential, but really slogged for me. It is a long book and an even longer listen (since you can't skim an audiobook very well).

The premise of a "ghostly" woman haunting her former home was good, but it seemed like the author couldn't decide which trope to follow. There were three parts to the book (I think) and although related, it was hard to meld them together.

I listened to the audiobook and I think I would have enjoyed it more as a physical book. There were over 200 chapters, some of which were very short. And, each and every chapter began with a date. I mean, if you are jumping around in time lines, that might be necessary. But, when you have 5 chapters in a row, all set in the same time, and each chapter takes less than 5 minutes to read, it gets really old really fast.

I also wasn't fond of the whole calendar aspect in the first part. Once again, that just seemed to add confusion for me. Then, after so many pages of following Mildred Wells and the horrors she caused, the ending seemed really abrupt.

The narrator did a good job and was easy to listen to, so at least there is that in the book's favor. All in all, I just didn't care that much about what happened because of the weird way it was presented.

If you like stories like Hex or Slewfoot by Brom then I highly suggest you give this a try, especially if you also like longer stories too. All to often you find a good book only for it to end just as you really get interested in the story. I love longer books. At times you might think there’s too many characters or it might bit a bit confusing but I swear it all works and makes sense in the end. I really enjoyed it. It’s first book supernatural/witch story I really liked in long time . It does seem to have a lot going on at times but I really enjoyed the multiple pov’s. You get to know the family’s that are haunted but you also get to hear from Mildred’s side and understand what brings her to be who she is. If you’re on the fence I definitely recommend giving it a try. It was definitely worth the credit imo. Hope you all love it as much as I did. It did not disappoint. I look forward to reading/listen to more from this author. This was my first book by him but definitely won’t be the last. Loved it!

an enjoyable horror novel. well detailed and great if you like a longer read. The narrator did a very good job.
