Acerca de esta escucha

James Fenimore Cooper was the most popular American writer of his day, but today he is best known for The Last of the Mohicans. A part of his Leatherstocking Tales, The Last of the Mohicans takes place in 1757 during the French and Indian War, when France and England battled for control of the American and Canadian colonies. It features Cooper's best-known character, the woodsman Natty Bumppo, also known as "Hawkeye" or "Leatherstocking". Hawkeye is brave, noble, honest, and respects the customs of the Indians.

The Last of the Mohicans follows Hawkeye and his Indian companions as they become involved in the bloody French and Indian War. It is a classic exciting adventure story full of battles, captures and rescues.

Hard language in a classic of American literature but droning reading was yuck. It was like having a dad who needed to get through the chapter so his kid would just go to bed already. Not a good listen.

I’m determined to listen to all 5 books in the Leather stocking tails.
Did people really speak like that? This unabridged version was good but the narrator was at times too monotone and sounded like Nick Offerman. Tbh, tiresome. Nonetheless, the story was spellbinding and so unlike the Hollywood movie I had to know what JFC’s story was really about.

The raw depiction of life and survival

Really enjoyable and thought provoking. Enjoyed the various characters and the detailed depiction of another era. A good read.

It's a Classic for a Reason

Much easier for me to follow the story in Audible than reading it. With the disclaimer that my eyes are blue, I felt James Fenimore Cooper had a rare insight into the native cultures than many of his time. I felt he saw that we are all, in the end, human and in that classification, share the quaities of good, evil, compassion and love: That there are individuals in every race that manifest the spectrum of creativeness or destruction, honor or cowardice. I feel enriched by having read this tale.

Beautiful. Rich. A Windows into another time.

I loved the movie, but the audio will bore you to death.

disappointed

The reader fails to bring characters to life, and sounds as if he gets lost in the words and fails to attribute meaning to them. It's hard to listen to, and failed to grasp the attention of my mind's eye.

Reading is fairly lifeless
