About this listen

Even the deepest buried secrets can find their way to the surface....

Moments before she dies, Nicola's grandmother Betty whispers to her that there are babies buried in the garden.

Nicola's mother claims she was talking nonsense. However, when Nicola's daughter finds a bone while playing in Betty's garden, it's clear that something sinister has taken place.

But will unearthing painful family secrets end up tearing Nicola's family apart?

The new emotionally charged suspense novel from Linda Green, the best-selling author of While My Eyes Were Closed and After I Am Gone.

Critic reviews

"Absorbing, emotional and thought-provoking."—New York Journal of Books

"Green brings into sharp focus the way that, historically, women have had to bear the weight of other people's perceptions and actions in this poignant read"—Woman's Weekly

"Green injects genuine suspense into the novel and exposes the full horror of abusive relationships...making the important point that the effects of shame can be almost more destructive than the original crime"—Literary Review

Captivating

Could not stop listening to this book. It was well written. The narrators were the best.

GREAT BOOK GREAT NARRATIVE!

This book was recommended to me by my step daughter. The twists, turns, sadness, joy had me laughing and crying all at the same time. I really enjoyed it and the narrator kept it easy to keep up with!

Hard to put down.

Well written and well read. It's sad to think of how many girls went through similar circumstances.

Redundant

struggled to finish. when the author repeats context clues in several scenarios, they are no longer clues and clear predictors of what's to come. I found it redundant. and I also felt anxious at the narration.

Not what I was hoping for…

Trigger warning: Rape and physical abuse. Had I known this, I would not have chosen “The Last Thing She Told Me.” It was emotionally depressing. As for the “culprit,” i had him figured out early on. I am familiar with both narrators and, as before, their vocal skills are perfectly precise. As for the storyline, if you’re already in a depressed state, steer clear. I managed to finish it by jumping chapters to the end. I did not waste a credit, but paid a few bucks. Disappointing audiobook!

Overwrought

Remember when you used to watch Scoobydo as a kid how easy it was to figure out the innkeeper was behind the haunting because he was the ONLY other character on the show? Same thing here but with way too much more knuckle biting from a heroine that has one bad idea after another.
