About this listen

An ancient evil is rising once more. War is coming. The time for a new Pendragon to rise and take over where Arthur left off is now.

Elizabeth has lived a sheltered life, never getting close to anyone, afraid they would just leave like everyone else in her life has. Her post-college plan was simple: take a boring office job at a multi-billion-dollar company owned by a family friend, then decide what she wants to do with the rest of her life.

Destiny has other plans.

Magic and supernatural beings are the stuff of legends, found only in books or on television. Not in real life; not in her real life. But Elizabeth quickly finds herself at the deep end of a magical war that has been brewing for centuries—a war where she is supposed to be the hero.

Problem is, she has no idea why.

She doesn't know about the legendary blood running through her veins, or the power and responsibility that comes with her legacy. She's completely clueless in the realities of her very mythical existence, and it will take an army of allies to help her stand against the monstrous threat determined to exterminate the line of Pendragon from the face of the earth.

Arthurian Adventures

I love the FMC’s character arc and watching her come into her own as she found her strength and determination. I enjoyed the Arthurian legend elements and found the story compelling and the adventure exciting. I couldn’t connect with the narrator, I felt like I was listening to an elementary school teacher read to me. I think this narrator would be excellent for children’s books.

A Captivating Arthurian Fantasy with a Modern Twist

The Last Pendragon by Jeanette T. Queen is a thrilling urban fantasy that reimagines the Arthurian legends for a contemporary audience. Set in the modern world, the story follows Elizabeth, a seemingly ordinary young woman who discovers her extraordinary heritage tied to the legendary Pendragon lineage. As she unravels her destiny, Elizabeth encounters a rich tapestry of mythical beings—including dragon shifters, vampires, elves, and more—blending classic fantasy elements with fresh, inventive twists.

Readers are drawn into a meticulously crafted world where magic, myth, and modernity coexist. The character development is compelling, with Elizabeth's journey from an unsuspecting individual to a powerful figure at the heart of an ancient prophecy being both relatable and inspiring. The narrative also introduces a dynamic cast of characters, each with their own secrets and motivations, adding depth and intrigue to the story.

The plot is fast-paced and filled with unexpected turns, keeping readers on the edge of their seats. Themes of destiny, identity, and the battle between good and evil are explored with nuance and excitement. The incorporation of a love triangle adds an emotional layer to the narrative, while the cliffhanger ending ensures that readers eagerly anticipate the next installment in the series.

If you're interested in a fantasy novel that combines rich mythology with modern storytelling, The Last Pendragon is a must-read. Its blend of adventure, romance, and supernatural intrigue offers a fresh perspective on the Arthurian legends, making it a standout in the genre.

I didn't want to stop listening!

I haven't found a female audiobook narrator that i have liked, and there were many phrases i didn't necessarily enjoy in her voice, but she was great overall! And the book was amazing! If I didn't have to stop to take care of kids, husband, and animals i would have finished this in a single day! Now i can't wait for the next one! I need to buy a physical copy as soon as possible!

Worth the listen

The story was unique and a nice spin on fairytale creatures. I enjoyed the pacing. I will definitely be waiting for the next book because the ending is quite the cliff hanger! The performance was done great as well!

Coming of Age Arthurian Fantasy w/a few twists

Interesting takes on the legends with some laugh out loud moments. It took a while for me to acclimate to the narrator to overlook the voices that didn’t seem to match the characters, but once I did, I was able to live in the world and enjoy the story.
