The Deathknight killed their leaders, shattering their alliance, and it took her husband.
Estingai barely pulled herself from the rubble of the Deathknight’s attack, but she has no time for grief. She must finish what she and her husband had started and unite the disparate factions of the resistance and lead them off their dying world.
When the other factions resist her efforts, Estingai must decide how far she is willing to go, who, if anyone, she can trust to help her, and if she can take up the mantle of the Last Knight and lead them to salvation.
Estingai sets her brother Koruuksi to hunt the spy that betrayed them. But when Koruuksi, full of anger and grief after his brother's death, must deceive his friends in order to achieve the end he wants, he doesn't know if he can follow through with his objective, or if it is worth what it might do to him.
Uuchantuu, Estingai’s adoptive sister, builds a strike team to steal various materials from the Imaia for some unknown purpose. But when the Imaia catches onto their activities, Uuchantuu and her unpracticed team must learn to trust each other, or fail at their mission and even lose their lives.
They are hunted, and time is running out.
