Exciting Thriller

The Last Five Days written by Paul Seiple is the first in a series about the start of an apocalypse that started in a small town. The town was plague by two twin brothers that were sent fishing on Black Dog Lake. The brothers were given a virus that they didn’t know about and that was how it all started. The survivors are trapped in the town trying to figure out what this sickness is and how to survive until a cure is found. Winston Fleming starts the story off by having to shoot his neighbor in the head.

The pros of this book would include Winston Fleming, I didn’t know if I liked him as a character when the book started and as the story progressed, he quickly became my favorite. I think it was clever how the author came about the zombies being created, it makes the story believable. I also liked how some of the characters started to develop but I wished they were developed a little more even if it extended that book another hour. The book contains a fair amount of action which keeps you interested.

Cons would be the length of the book; I do understand it’s titled the last five days and it had five chapters each telling the story about each day. I still think the author should have made the book a little bit longer. I grew a liking to a few characters, but I wish they were developed a little more. The story is fast paced but when it comes to books about the apocalypse, I think they should focus more on character development because we’re trying to relate with the people trying to survive opposed to the zombies or what ever is trying to end the world.

I received this book via Promo and I really enjoyed it, I will be starting the next book shortly. I didn’t take a liking to the Narrator, he voiced all of the characters by trying to create a different voice for each, I personally think that was too much for him to try and pull off, but he didn’t make me not want to listen to the book. The book ended with a twist and I’m looking forward to listening to the next. The epilogue seemed to have jumped a few years into the future and that makes me feel as thought the next book will rush the development of the newer characters, but I’m still interested in reading it.

The last five days

This was a great start to a new series.A new virus is decimating the population of Black Dog.When the CDC shows up with a doctor, they think help has arrived, until they lock her in with them.A new type of Zombie arrives. Alex Black was a fine narrator. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.'

A New Take on Zombies

I found this book to be fun and interesting. Secret sect of Government creates zombies to display a new weapon to kill them except it doesn’t work out like planned.

Different

A different take on the evolution of a zombie virus and it’s progression on a small town and a survivor. A little weird start but a basically a good read.

Greed, Power, Betrayal and Death

What would happen if our government used American Citizens to test a virus and wipe out the population of a small town to test it! In this story that is what happen in Black Dog a small community of easy going fisherman and local folks. And everything goes wrong and it spreads world wide. The virus was created to test a new micro weapon that could be programed to seak certain items out in the book red heads are mentioned if the weapon was programed to wipe red headed person it would just kill them. As usual greed and power comes in people start seeing money and a way to make more no matter what it cost. The virus that was created was to be only person to person but instead they created a thinking virus a virus that would protect itself to live and it went air born and infected everyone. The new weapon worked and started killing everyone who had the virus both in the town and the Generals, doctors and the soldiers.
The book is very well written and the narrator brings ever character alive to the point you can feel the pain of dieing loves ones , friends and neighbors. And the story ends with the only surviver a woman sending out a message of hope to be one day able to walk the earth as a human nit a food source.

Really liked this book.

It is always good to have a backstory on characters and this developed them nicely.

Sometimes I did a double take because the narrator sounded like a young Clint Eastwood!

Right now I am loading the next book!
