Mysterious

Loved it. Was confused by so many characters. Kept my interest to the end though.

Good book, pretty suspenseful

I liked it, it was some what predictable but still exciting. the ending was good but like I stated earlier, predictable.

Surprises

A little too long, but well done and lots of surprises and twists involving personality changes along the way

Latin should not be a dead language.

At first I was not confident I would enjoy, but the narrator has a lovely voice, so I stayed with her and while there were a couple of times I thought, If I had known that, then perhaps..., but I know now, that is what kept me engaged--the finding out. Overall good book.

clueless main character

i struggled with liking and supporting the main characer Jane. throughout the entire book, until the last few chapters, i just wanted to reach in and smack some sense into her. she was foggy, clueless, and oblivious to what was going on around her. that alone made the story hard to keep listening to and frustrating. idk if that was the authors intent? i get why the story was drawn out (to some extent) but not much of a mystery, it was easy to figure out what happened in the past and what was going on in current time. this is the first book i have listened to by this author and am hesitant to listen to more based on this alone.

Very engaging with a developmental protagonist.

A great read for a rainy day. Intriguing from the beginning and a fantastic climax.

Difficult to Care About the Characters...

The author spent more time showing the reader that she has a knowledge of the Latin language and Greek mythology than developing relationships. It is hard to care about a plot that is woven around the importance of relationships when you don't care about the characters (or feel the connections between them). I give some points back for the well-phrased descriptive writing about scenery, etc.

Ridiculous

No place could survive all the deaths/murders in this book. There are not that many people that would practice/buy into such ridiculous notions. I'm also really certain that that lake would be off limits.....fenced off. Just ridiculous.

gritty, dark, all absorbing

a bit wordy at times but wonderfully dark and consuming. the story has so many twists and turns. couldn’t get enough

Great listen

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. lots of tests and turns, keeps you wanting more. the narrator was perfect.
