Acerca de esta escucha

Two women, two very different destinies, drawn together in the shadow of the Tower of London:

Elizabeth of York, her life already tainted by dishonour and tragedy, now queen to the first Tudor king, Henry the VII.

Joan Vaux, servant of the court, straining against marriage and motherhood and privy to the deepest and darkest secrets of her queen. Like the ravens, Joan must use her eyes and her senses, as conspiracy whispers through the dark corridors of the Tower.

Through Joan’s eyes, The Lady of the Ravens inhabits the squalid streets of Tudor London, the imposing walls of its most fearsome fortress and the glamorous court of a kingdom in crisis.

I found The Lady of the Ravens entertaining. The story is about a woman and her efforts to take care of the Ravens living at the White Tower in London. Historical accuracy wasn’t an issue for me. Henry VII and Queen Elizabeth were not the main focus of the book. The history of events during the reign of Henry VII were fairly accurate. I enjoyed this listen. Narration was great. Joan was a likable character.

This book was pretty good. Well written and in parts it was nicely written. I would have liked some more details and focus on more interesting character development . However, overall it was worth a credit.

History

While I had read many novels of historical about the Tudors, including Joanna Hickson’s other novels of the origin of the Tudor era, THE LADY OF THE RAVENS has given life to an amazing but obscure woman who served Henry VII’s wife, Queen Elizabeth. She has done meticulous research to portray the duties of the talented commoners who found favor in the eyes of the king and queen. Her use of such an intelligent woman allows readers to gain an unusual view of the royal family. Best of all, this protagonist allows readers to see 15th-century efforts to protect and change public views of ravens. I loved this novel the best of Hickson’s works found on Audible.

Fascinating Historical Novel for Bird Lovers

She would have done better to have written a book on the house of York, about as much historical value as Doctor Seuss cat in the hat. On top of all the inaccuracies and the denigration of the subjects of the story it was not even mildly entertaining.

Truly Horrible worst one yet

Accents of characters were cringeworthy and as much as I love history and historical fiction this story was definitely boring at best. Sorry. Wish I could have loved it but your credits could be better used elsewhere

Narration was like nails on a chalkboard
