About this listen

Newlyweds Lord and Lady Astley Finally Reach Their Honeymoon Destination Only to Encounter a New Mystery in Need of Solving

Frederick and Grace Percy finally make it to Italy to enjoy a delayed honeymoon and explore the beauties of the historic city of Venice. To their surprise, their friend, Detective Jack Miracle, is also in the city, investigating a series of art heists starting at the house of eccentric millionaire, Laraby Covington. Drawn into a world of boat races, mysterious houses, and parties of the rich and unusual in Venice, Frederick and Grace learn of the existence of the Juliet paintings, (Renaissance paintings feature Shakespeare’s tragic heroine) rumored to hold a secret code to an underground vault of similarly treasured artwork assumed lost over the centuries. As Freddie and Grace are pulled deeper into the mystery and their beloved Detective Jack disappears, can they use their wits and work as a team to find the thieves and Jack before it’s too late.

The Juliet Code is a Freddie and Grace Mystery, sequel to The Mistletoe Countess and The Cairo Curse.

Book 3, Yes, Please!! No Spoilers!

I really enjoyed this Freddie and Grace adventure! As they travel to Venice to honeymoon (did they even get a date night?), they barely make it into a gondola before they are thrown into a mysterious chase!

This escapade introduces a cast of captivating characters, some more likeable than others, that are invited to an island house party, making everyone suspect as the Juliet paintings “go missing”.

With obscure clues and dastardly mishaps, Freddie and Grace help our dashing Detective Jack Miracle attempt to discover what is really going on and whom is whom, all while learning to fight with a parasol! You just have to read it!

I am already anticipating book 4 and hope that we hear more from Elliot along with a hopeful match for Jack Miracle. What? Yes! I am fully invested in this series with it’s swoony heroes and eccentric heroines!

I enjoyed the audiobook narration by Pamela Klein. The book was well read considering the number of characters that are included in this episode. True Brits might find fault with the accents but I thought her depiction of Freddie and Jack was fairly distinct.

This book is suitable for teens and older with no inappropriate intimate scenes and no bad language. I received this book from the author/publisher free of charge, with no expectation of a positive review. I also purchased the audiobook version.

Another thrilling Freddie & Grace Mystery!

“Because courage isn’t about being fearless. It’s about choosing to do something when we are afraid.”

Another thrilling, romantic Freddie and Grace mystery! I love this duo. Their charm, wit, and delicious romance make them a favorite sleuthing couple. I’ve been eagerly anticipating their next adventure since The Cairo Curse and found The Juliet Code thoroughly entertaining. This latest mystery takes them to Italy where the newlyweds are hoping to enjoy their honeymoon. But, life wouldn’t be complete without Grace stumbling into a mystery, so when their friend Jack Miracle shows up in Venice investigating an art heist, Grace and Freddie find themselves involved in another case.

The stolen series of Juliet paintings based on Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet are meant to lead to a hidden treasure. Jack is investigating the heist of one of the paintings owned by an eccentric millionaire and involves Grace and Freddie. They find themselves on the millionaire’s remote island with plenty of suspects, a ghost, and of course danger and mystery.

I loved the house party atmosphere reminiscent of Agatha Christie. The remote island location provides the perfect scene for a murder mystery where one feels a sense of being trapped. Coupled with that is a mansion containing secret rooms and passageways.

Freddie and Grace are their adorable selves. Grace’s bubbly enthusiasm is contagious. She definitely has a knack for solving mysteries but finds herself in the middle of danger. Freddie is right there along with her. While he appreciates his new wife’s talents, he’s learning to trust her and let go of his overprotective tendencies. I loved how they grew more as a couple in this story. Grace has some understandable fears and I loved seeing Freddie help her deal with those. I loved their banter, humor, swoonworthy sweet romance, and faith. The side characters in this story are just as endearing. I loved Jack and can’t wait to see more of him and his hopefully new female assistant.

The mystery was definitely full of twists and turns with a few red herrings along the way. It was a clever plot and I loved how the paintings contained clues to the treasure. While I had my suspicions of who the “bad guys” were, there were some definite surprises.

If you’re short on reading time, I highly recommend listening to the audiobook. The narrator did a fantastic job bringing these characters to life. I love how she interjects just the right amount of emotion and really brings out the characters’ personality, especially Grace and Freddie.

Now I can’t wait for the next adventure! Highly recommend to historical romance/mystery fans and inspirational mystery fans. While this book is part of a series, it can be read as a standalone. However, the first two books are must reads and I recommend reading them too. I received an advanced complimentary copy from the publisher but also purchased the audiobook version. All opinions are my own and voluntarily provided.

Suspenseful and sweet mystery

Grace and Frederick in Venice with so many suspects, who can figure it out? Helping Jack with the investigation, they are all in danger! Lots of suspense, mystery, sleuthing, and faith as they try and figure it all out! Sweet love between Grace and Frederick, who are still supposed to be honeymooning! Great adventures! Loved the audio and narrator too!

Great mystery

Enjoying this ongoing series with Grace and Frederick. The characters are relatable and likable. The historical aspect is appreciated. The narration is well done. Loving detective Jack more and more. Hoping the next installment finally offers Jack a happy ever after, possibly with his new partner.

Thank you, Pepper Basham!

These three books have become favorites! The first book is a sweet look at trusting God with your marriage. Excellent characters! The second was exciting with adventure in Egypt! And this one? I think Pepper Basham is showing us just how good she really is!
Also, the narrator is phenomenal. I don’t know if I could have loved Grace as dearly as I do, if it wasn’t for the humble and beautiful way she has brought out Grace’s character.

Molto bene! Great book.

This is the third story in the series and it's just as exciting as the first two. Frederick and Gracelyn FINALLY get to take their planned honeymoon in Venice, but danger, mayhem and mystery seem to follow these two budding sleuths wherever they go! Their relationship matures and we see more character growth, which is a good thing. I enjoyed the mystery and the swashbuckling adventure vibe. Pepper Basham does an amazing job of weaving humor, plot and faith into one fantastic story. I hope this series never ends.
