About this listen

He always dreamed of becoming a Champion. But finding a mythical sword could cut his life short....

Finn Featherstone longs to trade in his paintbrush for a legendary Bizarre Blade. One day, after heroically rescuing a young girl and coming face-to-face with his sword-fighting idol, he is shocked to learn he is being drafted as a foot soldier. A few days later the army caravan he marches with is attacked by a pack of saber-toothed tigers. While trying to survive, Finn finds himself crashing through the ice where he mistakenly discovers a magical Blade of his very own.

Introduced to a world of Champions jealous of his random find, Finn struggles to master his sword’s sludge-spitting bad attitude. Surrounded by dubious allies, he must somehow find the courage to battle the vicious meat-eating dinosaurs that roam the land as well as trying to survive the freezing elements. And when a traitor takes down Finn’s fellow Champions, the former painter must tame his angsty weapon in a hurry if he has any hope of winning the fight of his life.

Can Finn command his deranged Blade before his dreams of glory come to a bloody end?

The Jigsaw Blade is the first book in the refreshingly unique Bizarre Blades sword-and-sorcery fantasy series. If you like plucky heroes, wacky humor, and ferocious dinosaurs, then you’ll love Stevie Collier’s swashbuckling tale.

Pretty good

So this is a pretty good book even if the MC is kinda whiny and overly lucky I mean destiny bs aside like the chances of him falling RIGHT TO THE SWORD are very very low I like. I like the dinosaur thing but like it’s more than just Dinos like saber tooth tigers DID NOT live at the same time as Dinos and mammoths DEFINITELY DID NOT LIVE AT THE SAME AS DINOS

Thoroughly Engrossing

The Jigsaw Blade is an engrossing, exciting epic fantasy that doesn't even take itself seriously, mixing adventure with magic swords and dinosaurs.

what's there not to like?

Kevin Kemp knocks this reading out of the park! I think I have a new favorite to watch for along with Vikas Adams, Nick Podehl and TGR.

I really enjoyed the story and by halfway through I was invested in the slighty spastic Finn the Fantastic. Uou have to listen book with a sense of humor and a little tongue in cheek otherwise some of the jokes/references will break your immersion.

looking for to the next book in audio!

Only if you are up for a fun listening romp

Kudos to Stevie Collier for an unexpectedly interesting and often hilarious novel combined with Kevin Kemp's narration performance. Ostensibly, it's a coming of age story but there's enough scatological humor and brutal sadistic areas that parents might want to be cautious of providing it to pre-16-year-olds . With that said, the MCs unlucky adventures as he stumbles along toward his Bizarre Blade discovery are daring as they are entertaining.

Also, the concept of using bizarre magical swords as the quest items and equally bizarre lands, both beasts and people, is refreshingly unexpected.

PS: To the commenter who gave up after a small girl's death fall, the girl lived. However, your concern over it's unsuitableness for an 8 year old is well founded; although, you might find it a worthwhile listen.

Great Story!

Awesome swords that grant incredible or somewhat strange powers is just my kind of story. Looking forward to a second book!

unique is good

Great first book

This book was great at developing a main character, though a very slow growth. wish there was more swordplay but I loved the world and meaningful side characters.

A New Champion in Town

If I ever grow up I want to be Mother Nibbles!
What a great new Series I have tripped over here. Great characters, unique storyline, fast paced and funny in all the right places and a few wrong places too. Some juvenile sexual silliness and a great deal of bloody violence...after all, there are lives on the line here. Yes,yes they swear a bit but you can't help laughing. It's all in good fun! There are even dinosaurs.
I have read some comments about the immaturity of the characters, blah blah blah. You do need to take this book with a light heart and just enjoy it for what it is...a silly story.
There are 5 books in this series. I am part way through Book 2. I have already bought the whole set.
The narrator, Kevin Kemp is wonderful. I love all his voices and will be looking up more audiobooks read by him.
