Acerca de esta escucha

The Jeffersonian Republicans examines various events between 1800 and 1823 that helped to shape the United States. The Louisiana Purchase, the War of 1812, and important Supreme Court decisions are among the discussed events.

History is dramatic - and the renowned, award-winning authors Christopher Collier and James Lincoln Collier demonstrate this in a compelling series aimed at young readers. Covering American history from the founding of Jamestown through present day, these volumes explore far beyond the dates and events of a historical chronicle to present a moving illumination of the ideas, opinions, attitudes and tribulations that led to the birth of this great nation.

Sometimes these history presentations give me something new, a perspective or bit of information, that I appreciate and feel elevates the entry.
This one was thorough but nothing special.

Not especially insightful

This gives a broad insight into the early development of the United States from Thomas Jefferson's tenure as president through James Monroe's tenure. It does a fantastic job of detailing each pivotal point during that time including the actions and ramifications of these crucial points in American history. The only part of it that I didn't particularly enjoy was the narrator, whom seems entirely capable of lulling a carnival to sleep. Don't listen to it on the road; you may find yourself adrift in dreams while your car is adrift in a ditch.

Great overview of Jeffersonian America

A very brief and interesting history of this time period. I had a few issues with some of the things peppered in that made me Question things. I also had an issue with it at the very end during the battle of New Orleans. I do not know if it was an error of the voiceover artist or the authors but it states that there were 7500 British troops in 50 ships that attacked New Orleans and that there were 16,000 American troops defending it. However the end result was 12,000 British soldiers killed including the commander of the forces. This number is inconsistent with the earlier number of British troops of 7500. Again, since it was an audiobook I do not know if it was an error with the authors or the voiceover artist.

Very brief

While I'm enjoying this series of short books overall, this one didn't accurately portray Lewis and Clark at all. If you just skim their journals, it's clear how ignorant they were, not to mention exceedingly wasteful of natural resources. Overall it's good information in these books but I find that the authors love the constitution and the founding fathers a bit too much. They tend to sugarcoat things.

Not my favorite

It was What I expected. Thanks for the white perspective. I'm all to familiar with it. School in America will keep you up to speed.
