About this listen

The instant #1 New York Times bestseller

The official report and findings of the bipartisan Congressional investigation into the January 6 attack on the Capitol, and Donald Trump’s related coup conspiracies to overthrow the election, with an original foreword by attorney and Emmy-winning MSNBC anchor Ari Melber.

This edition includes an exclusive breakdown of the coup conspiracy, based on Melber’s reporting and real-time coverage, highlighting the multi-pronged plot against democracy. Only the authoritative House committee report can capture the full range of plots that have been exposed over time, from the violent attack on January 6 to related efforts revealed months after the insurrection.

This definitive edition features:

• New independent analysis of the coup conspiracy by MSNBC Chief Legal Correspondent Ari Melber

• The historic, official text of the House Committee report on the insurrection, including the full Executive Summary with endnotes and all chapter endnotes.

• The definitive accounting of Donald Trump’s efforts to end American democracy

This is the only edition of the report featuring an additional, original analysis of the coup by a journalist and lawyer at the center of the action -- Melber has interviewed top members of this Committee, Jan. 6 rally planners and other cooperating witnesses, and Trump White House veterans ranging from Steve Bannon to Peter Navarro (now indicted for defying this probe). His report documents how Trump’s plots comprise a continuous coup conspiracy -- not a “riot” that exploded in a “single day” -- and why that factual prism is vital for accountability, justice, and preventing the next coup attempt.

In chilling detail, he shows how that process might have engineered a technical effort to “override” the election on the floor of Congress—an essential map, and warning, for those who wish to protect democracy. If warnings are ignored and there is no accountability for the plotters at the top, a failed coup may become a training exercise.

This report is not only a vital document in modern American history, it can also inform efforts to protect the future of American democracy. As a matter of justice, bipartisanship, and even patriotism, this report will become essential reading for any American determined to defend our democracy.

So much information!

Just hearing the length that Trump to in order to stay in the Whitehouse was quite angering. His dishonesty and need to stay in power was just so stunning. As someone who listened to the J6 Hearings, and after listening to this report, I can see that there is still so much we don't know about all of the other involved people. I only wish that everyone would care enough to read the report just to educate themselves. Ari Member and the narrator were both excellent. I intend to listen to it several more times so I can take notes.

An attempt to understand what, why, and how.

Those of you who review or read this with a bias, that’s ok. We all have inherent biases from multiple sources. For this, we must make a serious attempt to overcome some of those built in ideas just for a bit, then we can actually come to an informed conclusion as to what happened at the United States Capitol Building on January 6, 2021. This incident which had and still has many competing narratives.

However, you have got to go above and beyond, get a little uncomfortable for a bit, bring back your critical thinking skills, and do your best to determine without prejudice or malice, based solely on the evidence, your own cognitive abilities, and the law, what is the case? Is there a case? Is it blatant lies? Is it a giant temper tantrum, or quite possibly caused by temper tantrums? Is it completely biased? etc.

Investigate for yourselves what reportedly took place and how did those in charge react? Properly within the confines of their Oath of Office, or not?

Take for example the D.C. police said on the day after the riot that Rosanne Boyland, 34, of Kennisaw, Georgia, suffered a “medical emergency.” The New York Times reported on Jan. 15 that Boyland died “in a crush of fellow rioters during their attempt to fight through a police line, according to videos reviewed by The Times.” That narrative was furthered by prosecutors pressing criminal cases against some of the rioters who said that as rioters clashed with police, Boyland “was dying after being trampled by the mob.”

But a month later, the D.C. medical examiner’s office released its conclusion that Boyland had died accidentally of “acute amphetamine intoxication.” According to the Washington Post, “The drug cited in Boyland’s death is addictive and can be prescribed to treat attention-deficit disorder and narcolepsy.” In short, Boyland was a tweaker. The heart giveth, and the heart taketh away, (quite often when tweaking.)

This is, I feel, one of our final “Wake up calls,” in the U.S.A.

Friends, citizens, Americans, it is time to bury Trump and all of his spineless enablers, not praise him.

After this giant critical thinking exercise, and all of the evidence, it is time for you decide what happened, who acted within their sworn oaths to the United States of America, to “Uphold and Defend the Constitution From Enemies Both Foreign and Domestic,” and who did not. Keep your conclusión to yourself and use that and other things you learn as you go to become more informed and outright better voters by understanding the issues and standing up for what is right. That, my friends, is the key to the future.

Peace and Grace to you all.

Don’t review if you haven’t listened

So disgusted to read reviews from people who didn’t take the time to listen or read. There is a review from someone who just calls people names. That doesn’t help your case, sir. The J6 committee had a tough job and did it well. They will go down in history as “the good guys”…that’s more accurate name calling.

It's Long

It'd long but deservedly so. The subject is important, & to begin to understand an event new to our history; makes, in my opinion, this the best approach.

Thoroughly Presented.

This report is excellent and very thorough! If listening to this material, it is very clear that Trump and many of his supporters tried to disrupt the peaceful transfer of power. Given this, I find it incredulous that so many still support Trump! The only reasons I can think of is that they support his white supremacy ideology. Sick!

HBO movie?!!!

This report is disturbing, riveting, and nail-biting to the end. Better and more frightening than a suspense novel, this is the best narrative I’ve read in a long while.

Real eye opener

How anybody could think Trump should not be tried for encouraging this insurrection is beyond my comprehension

January 6, 2021 Truth

The importance of documenting January 6th can not be overstated. Let this important story serve as a warning to future generations what is possible under an authoritarian narcissistic leader.

Very Informative!!

First, I’d like to thank all of you who served on the January 6th Committee; for all the time you dedicated to this effort to obtain the truth; and the sacrifices you’ve had to make, some more than others. Because of your efforts I have a better understanding of what transpired that day! You were limited by time, costs and volunteers and have at least suggested some changes necessary to prevent this from happening again but much more is needed!! Given the time constraints this is very well done. This is a “must read” for all Americans who wish to save our Country from becoming just another “Banana republic”!!!
