Great storytelling. Outstanding performance

The performance by the narrator made this book/story even more compelling. Beyond that, the characters were very well developed

Chris Bohjalian is one of my favorite authors and this book will give you a reason why.
So very good. I loved every character in this book!
Highly recommend. Don't start listening unless you are able to listen from start to finish in one sitting!
The narration was the best!

Real history

Loved the writer’s account of the true story basis. There were some weird edits where the reader’s voice fluctuates strangely. I enjoyed the story. Would recommend. After hearing the true basis I like that ending a bit better.

Wonderful Characters

I love historical fiction and endearing characters. Nobody creates unforgettable characters better than Chris Bohjalian!

Great story telling! It kept me wondering how everything was going to end up and turning the pages

Not as good as it could have been

The summary (and historical data at the end) made for a good novel but the delivery was more of a sappy Hallmark story.

Just ok

I was really looking forward to listening to this book but it was just disappointing. I cannot recommend.
