Story
In the early 1870's, the young state of Texas was struggling to survive. Its vast, undeveloped land of over 260 thousand square miles became a haven for the lawless. Murderers, rustlers and renegade bands of hostile Indians and Comanchero roamed the vast wastelands of west Texas with only a narrow river separating them from the sanctuary of Mexico. One group of dedicated lawmen stood between this element and the law-abiding citizenry - the Texas Rangers. This is the story of one of those men.

Story
Johnny Shooter was sentenced to hang at noon. But Judge Isaac Parker, widely known as the "Hanging Judge", made Johnny an offer he couldn't refuse. The judge made him a Deputy United State Marshal, then sent his new deputy after the worst-of-the-worst outlaws the Indian territory had to offer, with the orders not to burden the court by bringing them back for trial. Now, rumor has it that whenever outlaws gather around a campfire, the word is: "The only thing worse than standing before the Hanging Judge is hearing that Johnny Shooter is on your trail!"

Was it justice... or revenge? What drove a simple farmer to set out on an impossible quest after a gang of bloodthirsty killers that raped and murdered his wife and slit his small son's throat? Their trail led him halfway across the country and deep into Mexico. One by one he tracked them down and brought them to justice, sometimes at the end of a short rope, more often in front of his fast guns, and he didn't care which.

Catch is: the train is carrying a Gatling gun and 20 deputy US marshals who know they're coming. Private Jake Elliott was apprehensive as he walked to the commander’s office. He couldn’t think of a single transgression that would have attracted the major’s attention. When he left the command building 10 minutes later, he was still numbed by the short visit. Tomorrow, he would no longer be a cavalryman, but would be returning to the family ranch outside of Fort Benton in Montana Territory. But it was the reason he was being discharged before his enlistment expired that had been the biggest shock.

Story
Guy Montag is a fireman. In his world, where television rules and literature is on the brink of extinction, firemen start fires rather than put them out. His job is to destroy the most illegal of commodities, the printed book, along with the houses in which they are hidden. Montag never questions the destruction and ruin his actions produce, returning each day to his bland life and wife, Mildred, who spends all day with her television "family."

Johnnie Rico never really intended to join up—and definitely not the infantry. But now that he’s in the thick of it, trying to get through combat training harder than anything he could have imagined, he knows everyone in his unit is one bad move away from buying the farm in the interstellar war the Terran Federation is waging against the Arachnids. The Isoms brothers
This book is the second one in a series about the Isoms brothers. It's a very exciting western about their lives as they leave their home and head for Texas where they become town marshals. They later start the "Lone Star Cattle Company". Its a very good western with the gunfights that accompany most western books. As the story goes on the book deals with them getting married. The author, Dusty Rhodes, does a very excellent job at developing the story theme. If you are a fan of books written by Dusty Rhodes and a fan of the narrator Gene Engene than I recommend these two books.

The Isoms
This is one of the best books I have listened to since the longhorn series
The isoms brothers parents die and they set out on there on. They learn as they go. They stick together and look out for each other. There is a lot of life lessons to be learned from the isoms brothers. Every thing about this book is good. A good story line and the friends they meet along the way and the way they help the people that is in need. I don't want to spoil it for you so I'll just say this book is as good as they get. I highly recommend this book and series. Gene Engene is one of the best narrator's there is. If my review is any help will you please click on the helpful link below. Thank you

Entertaining
This is the continuation of book one of the “Isoms Brothers.” The book starts right where the last book ended with Bob entering Rachel’s café in Abilene, Kansas after bring up a herd of cattle from Texas. He and Rachel are to be married. She and her mother and younger sister return to Texas with Bob to live at their new ranch.
As the story progresses, the ranch buys cattle and gather cattle from the thickets. The boys take herd after herd of cattle to Abilene. Frank gets married to Ellen and Jessie marries the Bannerman’s daughter. She inherits a huge ranch in Mexico from her maternal grand father.
The boys and families have lots of exciting adventures, some suspense, gun fights with cattle rustlers, but also humor and a view of ranch life in the late 1800s in Texas. Overall it is an excellent historical novel. Rhodes is an excellent story teller and writes books acceptable for the entire family. Gene Engene is a great narrator for western books.

I listen to the Isom story every few years. Nothing offensive which is almost unheard of these days. Very enjoyable and I love almost everything read by Gene Engene.

Good story but predictable
Dusty Rhodes is a great writer and he's written many books but he used some of the same material from other books. I heard the waterfall before thanks Dusty.
